And what about the paranoia all men already feel in a society where the mere utterance of the word rape against them - a word that is, quite sadly, cheapened in our society - is enough to essentially ruin their lives. This is of course not to say that genuine rape is a non-issue, it definitely is. Rape is a horrible, horrible thing that one person can do to another; it is the ultimate violations of one’s safety and right to their own body. With that being said, our society gives a lot of power to women. The sad fact is that a lot of women who *are* sexually assaulted fear coming out with the truth, while other women use the ‘rape’ call as a way to alleviate responsibility from themselves or even to actively spite and hurt others.
