Most people are familiar with Louisville because of bourbon, The Kentucky Derby, and Louisville Sluggers, but did you know it's also a great place to "Get Some." In an unprecedented effort, Louisville media partners want you to get "Get Some." They're encouraging you to "Get Some" from experienced partners, "Get Some" from your friends, and most importantly share how "Getting Some" transformed your business.

It’s seen on billboard on the ride into work: GET SOME during your morning commute. Then, at the office, a bright yellow ad in the business press reads: For more effective sales calls, GET SOME. And while on lunch in downtown, a bus shelter teases: GET SOME while you wait. It’s all part of the American Advertising Federation-Louisville (AAF-Louisville) initiative to demonstrate the power of Louisville advertising.

From May 26 through June 29, over two dozen media partners across the city of Louisville will print, post, and play GET SOME advertisements that are designed to generate buzz about the Louisville advertising industry. This five-week “roadblock campaign” is meant to debunk the myth that good advertising can only be found in cities outside of Louisville, like New York, Chicago or Los Angeles.

“Members of AAF-Louisville suffer from ‘the cobbler’s children go barefoot’ syndrome – being too busy advertising for clients to make time for themselves,” said Mary Gratzer, AAF-Louisville executive director. “This bold campaign is a real collaboration of several of our member agencies geared to draw attention to the talent right here in Louisville.”

GET SOME is a call to action that leads the public to a landing page populated with the names and websites of over 100 Louisville advertising agencies and vendors. With the help of nearly every major media outlet in the city, the GET SOME campaign will serve as a means for those who need advertising to “get some” in their own backyards.

“We understand that the not-so-subtle innuendo might be a bit of a shock to some, and we anticipate some negative feedback,” said Gratzer. “But that only proves our point: Louisville advertising is powerful, and it gets attention.”

The campaign has already been causing controversy with its tongue-in-cheek approach, but getting people to talk is exactly what the AAF-Louisville wants.
