While the Harvard coeds highlighted their resumes with academic achievements, Damien Brockton had a few tricks up his sleeve

Incredible Story Of Community College Shlub Who Beat Ivy League Sharks To A Prestigious Summer Internship

Boston-None of Damien Brickton's teachers would call him a 'good student'. He averaged a 'C-' in high school and was more interested in being the class clown than academics. Every school he applied to rejected him- even his safety school. Damien was devastated and eventually settled for Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley, MA where he knew he had to start from scratch. He was down, but definitely not out.

"Although I never thought of myself as a good student in the traditional sense, I do consider myself a creative mind who prides himself on thinking outside the box". That's why when Damien heard about a prestigious summer internship with Fidelity Investments, he decided to give it a shot.

Fidelity is a world renown financial firm that brands itself as the online trading brokerage of choice. So while the Ivy League students put their outstanding academic achievements on their resume, Damien had another idea that helped set him apart.

Here's a sample excerpt from his resume:

    Trade Floor Manager
C.J. Prescott Elementary School, Norwood, MA
-Managed operations of growth-centered trading at only seven years old
-Traded sliced granny smith apple for bag of Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos on a consistent basis

"I just re-framed everyday grade school experiences into impressive corporate accomplishments" he explains. Another milestone he ensured to highlight was his selection process when choosing his pick-up basketball team at summer camp.

Talent Scout of Major Basketball Team
Beaver Summer Camp, Chestnut Hill, Ma

-Managed community-wide program providing disadvantaged children with equal opportunity at only 10 years old
-Consistently chose fattest, slowest kid first on my basketball team

"Everyone tries to be all serious and formal on their resumes, but I decided to be a little different by showing them that I can be the innovator who thinks outside the box."

Damien not only set himself apart from the pack with a witty, clever resume, but sent the resume with a multi-dimensional email signature from WiseStamp, a chrome extension that provides emails with attractive features like customized social media icons that can link directly to your college's Facebook page and Twitter account.

Although something as small as an email signature doesn't seem like a big deal, it's the last thing the recruiter sees on your email and therefore should leave a lasting impression" explains Damien.
