The audience and cast of Les Misérables on London's West End were evacuated during a matinée performance Saturday because of a power outage at two theaters.
Fire trucks were called to the Queen's Theater in Soho after a power transformer overheated, although there was no blaze, fire officials told ITV news.
The outage also affected the nearby Gielgud theater, where a performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night Time was taking place.
More than 1,000 people were evacuated on to the streets, the BBC reported, including Les Mis cast members still in their costumes.
The cast themselves seemed excited to be "let looooooose" on to the streets.
Fans were upset when the show was eventually cancelled, although the UK Power Network apologized to theater-goers for the inconvenience, the BBC reported.
Power was eventually restored and the show's producer said the evening performance would go ahead as planned.
