In Australia we love our sport. We live and breathe it from the backyard to the playground to the stadiums and everywhere in between. Which has led Australia to a strange junction as a culture in which we take our lead on all subjects great and small from our sporting stars and commentators... Lately it has seemed that our sporting stars are starting to catch on to just how much power they have to ignite the political climate and spark debate in the broader population on issues much bigger than a coin toss (CC: Goodsey, I stand with you).
But one elite Australian sporting team is taking their statement beyond a press conference, a tweet or a impassioned stand on Q&A and wearing it (literally) for their entire season.
The University of Canberra Capitals will this season sport a Pride Rainbow down the side of their playing kit, promoting and reigniting the conversation around marriage equality and acceptance as a whole in Australia... And it's gosh darn awesome.
It's about being inclusive, celebrating equality and taking pride in all the things they do, both on the court and off.
This Is Your New Favourite Sporting Team... The UC Caps.
Seriously... How good do they look?
And these girls are big names...
Seriously... AWESOME.
And functional...
But seriously...
