    Accepting My Inner Trump...

    Ramblings from artist/writer Darla Ferrara

Yesterday, Ted Cruz accused John Boehner of allowing his "inner Trump" to come out. I've often wondered what people saw in Donald Trump, even before he ran for President.

What is it that puts The Donald in the lead for the Republican nomination despite the fact that his own party is working against him? There are many theories. The one that I tend to believe is that people want drastic change no matter what it takes and that's what he represents. Change just for the sake of change rarely fairs well, though, I'm afraid.

Despite all that I've come to the conclusion that Ted is onto something. Maybe, we all have a little Trump inside of us and that's the appeal.

    1. Trump is sassy.

I like to think I'm sassy, too. It's not a bad thing.

    2. Trump uses his sass to hurt others.

I'm guilty of that myself, but it's rarely intentional. I just have a big mouth, also a Trump feature. I can use The Donald as an example of what not to do in the future.

    3. Trump tends to contradict himself.

    Oh, boy does he...

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending the best. They're not sending you, they're sending people that have lots of problems and they're bringing those problems. They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime. They're rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they're telling us what we're getting."

There is a lot wrong with this statement. For one thing, the whole "us" versus "them" way of thinking is just divisive. When challenged about this statement, he answered,

    "I love Mexicans."

Okay,..still a good attempt at distraction, though. I guess he is a politician after all.

Donald may not make it to the White House, but I think people will be studying his campaign tactics for years looking to understand the inner Trump in us all.

I say don't deny your inner Trump, just use it wisely and don't run with it (see what I did there).

Now go out, explore your inner Trump and enjoy some art.
