Meet Michael. He’s got a girl on his mind. And a plan.
Meet Kayley, the object of Michael’s attentions.
It all began last night.
And what happened when Michael got home from school.
And what he found waiting for him there.
It’s not looking good for Bluey the dog.
And where’s Michael's Mum?
Ah. Found her.
Michael is lost for words. Except one.
Kayley is a good listener.
And Michael can't look away.
And Michael's never felt like this before.
So now Michael has a favour to ask.
TWISTED is written by Georgia Symons from Sydney, directed by James Hartley and James Shepherd, and stars Claudio Trovato and Laura Fairclough.
Georgia was 20 when she wrote TWISTED, and modeled the voice on her younger brother, who was about Michael's age at the time: 'Neuroscientists, police officers and parents alike say that young people have an underdeveloped ability to link action with consequence so I wanted to take this to an extreme - what is the worst thing a teenager could do to satisfy a fleeting desire? Many people are shocked to hear it was written by a girl - I've even had people tell me to my face that I didn't write it!'
TWISTED follows on from last year's THE LANGUAGE OF LOVE by 17 year old Kim Ho, which Ellen DeGeneres and Stephen Fry both described as 'amazing', and which was featured on Buzzfeed, here. Both are part of THE VOICES PROJECT from the Australian Theatre for Young People, bringing together new young writers, actors, theatremakers and filmmakers to explore writing for theatre and film.
