    In the eleventh century, the royal zoo was established and housed at the Tower of London. The zoo remained there for the next six centuries. The zoo was full of exotic animal species ranging from elephants to kangaroos. The original zoo closed down in eighteen thirty five and all the animals were moved to The New London Zoo.

    The most expensive year to live in London so far has been twenty thirteen. In that year, a month's rent (for private accommodation) averaged at about eleven hundred something pounds. The highest-ever recorded rental amount. Problem was that wages at the time were growing at an eight times slower pace than rents.

    The British capital can pride itself on having the largest fleet of ambulances in the world. The emergency medical service has seventy stations throughout the city and employs more than five thousand people.
