    The toons they are a-changing.

    Like many celebrities, cartoon characters tend to go through drastic changes in their appearance over the years.

    Here's a few animated icons who started out looking a lot different than the way we know them.

    1. The Simpsons, 1987

    2. Archie in 1941 and today.

    Archie started as a funny looking dude. I guess the cartoonists later realized they had to make it more believable that girls would fight over him.

    3. Charlie Brown in 1950 and later.

    He's just not Charlie Brown without his zigzag shirt.

    At some point, Snoopy figured out how to walk on two feet.

    One of the more drastic makeovers. Disney changed him from Larry David into a little boy.
