18 Mariah Carey Songs You've Never Heard

Country songs, scat singing, Spanish tracks, Tupac remixes. You name 'em, Mimi's got 'em!

In anticipation of Queen MC's residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vagas this May, here's a list of some of her hidden gems. Be prepared to sob your heart out, work your thang, or be totally slayed!

    1. "Weakness of the Body" (1988)

Before Mimi made it big, she sang backup for a popular 80's artist known as Brenda K. Starr. She often sang demos for Brenda. This is one of those demos.

    2. "O Holy Night (with Michael Bolton)" (1994)

Vocal powerhouse Michael Bolton was supposed to collaborate with MC, but it never happened. This is a fan-made alternate duet of the two sure to make your ears fall off (in the best possible way, of course).

    3. "Heat" (2008)

"That's Mariaaaaaaaahhhh!" It sounds like some sort of naughty nursery rhyme, but it gets you snappin' those fingers and bobbin' that head nonetheless. Get it, guurrrl!

    4. "We Belong Together (Remix) feat. Tupac" (2005)

If Tupac were alive when MC recorded "We Belong Together," this would have happened, and it would have been "hot tamale!" Kudos to the fan that edited this awesome remix!

    5. "Everything Fades Away" (1993)

This is one of those masterpieces regulated to a b-side. It's as soul-piercing as it is beautiful, and MC goes hard on it. Really though, she goes HARD!

    6. "Bring It On Home" (2012)

If you rooted for Obama during the '12 presidential election, you'll love this song. If you didn't, well, you'll love it too. Queen MC was on team Obama and wrote this song for his re-election campaign.

    7. "Help Me Make It (Through The Night)" (2008)

If you've ever wondered what Mariah Carey would sound like singing country music, you don't have to wonder any longer. Here she is covering Kris Kristofferson's country classic for 2008's film Tennessee.

    8. "One Sweet Day with Boyz II Men (Acapella)" (1995)

Keep a tissue at hand because you're about to hear an acapella version of "One Sweet Day." Mariah co-wrote the song with Boyz II Men and dedicated it to her friend and producer David Cole, who had passed away from AIDS.

    9. "I Still Believe/Pure Imagination feat. Krayzie Bone" (1998)

You heard Gene Wilder sing "Pure Imagination" in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Now imagine Mariah Carey singing it in her sultry, dreamy melismatic voice. Pure magic, yo!

    10. "Anytime You Need a Friend (C+C Club Remix)" (1994)

Mariah has about a billion remixes to her belt. Some would go as far as to call her the "Remix Queen." And at about 11 minutes, this particular remix is just a tad bit too long, but 8 minutes into the song, you'll find the only studio recording of MC scatting. Yes, you heard right, the ONLY instance of Queen MC scatting on record. Enjoy!

    11. "Underneath the Stars (Drifting Remix)" (1995)

"Underneath the Stars" is Mimi's all-time personal favorite, and who can argue, it's like a tranquilizer. There have been cases where listening to the remix has put people to sleep against their will. Okay, not quite, but it's so soothing, it might as well.

    12. "Slipping Away" (1995)

Mariah fought tooth-and-nail, trying to put this track on her Daydream album, but alas, it never made it. This was around the same time Mimi was experiencing relationship woes, so we can only speculate who this song is about. *wink wink*

    13. "Héroe" (1993)

"Hero" in Spanish? Say whaaaaaaa!? Granted, it's not the best Spanish, but you won't hear MC roll her r's anywhere else. ¡Disfruta!

    14. "Almost Home (Dapo Torimiro Version)" (2013)

This is the alternative, more "urban," and less electronic version of "Almost Home," the promotional single for 2013's Oz the Great and Powerful. I could listen to that last utterance of "hoooomeeee" in this song all day, e'eryday. It's so beautiful.

    15. "I Feel It" (2005)

This could have been THE song off of The Emancipation of Mimi, but a sample Mimi used in the song wasn't green-lit by the original artist, the Dynamic Superiors. A damn shame indeed, it's such an epic song.

    16. "Mi Todo" (1998)

This is the other instance, of only three instances, where Mariah sings in Spanish. The way she sings "mi amor" throughout the song will have you feeling a certain type of way. Guaranteed!

    17. "Sprung" (2005)

This was released in the Japanese version of The Emancipation of Mimi, so a lot of people state-side never got the chance to hear it. It's strange considering it could have been a huge hit over here. Fo' sho!

    18. "Time of Your Life" (2006)

Mariah had the midas touch during the Mimi era. Everything she touched turned to gold. There's no doubt about it. Case in point when she recorded ringtones for Pepsi. Some of those were only a minute long but had the potential of full-blown singles. Trust me when I say it, you won't care that this is a ringtone on loop. It's a BOSS anthem for absolutely EVERYONE and EVERYTHING!
