Keira Knightley "I'm Not Anorexic". Bullshit, We're Not Blind.

Keira Knightley was the 'thinspiration' for a generation of anorexic teens and young adults, who learned how to starve themselves while blaming it on genetics. While anorexia is an enduring phenomenon, the waif image of the nineties is dying out as new fitter celebrities gain recognition. In retrospect we can look at the Keiras of yesteryear and wonder how blind they thought we were, or how blind we could be. As we move forward, aiming for a newer healthier generation, we must be honest about fashion and image and how we are pressuring girls to cater to the male libido and the fashion industry.

"(The press) said to me yesterday 'How does it feel to be called anorexic?' and I had no idea that I was," Knightley said. "I'm not saying there aren't people in the film industry that suffer from it, because I am sure that there are. But I'm quite sure I don't have it."

"I've got a lot of experience with anorexia - my grandmother and great-grandmother suffered from it, and I had a lot of friends at school who suffered from it," Knightley said. "I know it's not something to be taken lightly and I don't."
