[Recap] Clexa Fandom Winning Polls: The Last Day Of E!Online

I end up losing the last day of voting and I had to check Clexa Brasil account to see what happened. This was supposed to be just a recap with the best tweets, but end up being a "why we care about polls". Enjoy.

    general info

Clexa Fans just won 9 of 10* E!Online polls, with more than 2.176.920 votes in just one of the categories. The fandom alone got together to the point they made 20.000 votes at every 20 minutes. So here are some prints of the last hours of voting.

It was just to remember this moment in Clexa History™, but now we can think about why we vote in polls.

    * There were more categorias, like Best Shocker, but Lexa's death wasn't a shocking plot twist, it was the perpetuation of an old pattern of killing LGBT+ characters for drama, that had a traumatic impact on real lives. Our lives aren't here for shock value.

    * Also, it's interesting that we won the Best Fandom category (Clexa Fandom), but

The loo lost the category of social media in the same page. Why? Because we won't vote for this either, they used it to queerbait us.

    * It's interesting to note that not only on E!Online polls, but in others around internet, LGBT ships always win. The biggest fights here were between Clexa x Shoot (POI - f/f) x Malec (Shadowhunters - m/m). This basically says "starving for representation" and "there's a big public wanting to watch more LGBT couples".

    * Both Clexa and Shoot were part of the Bury Your Gays trope. Good luck, Malec. (But I guess they have more chance because they're men)

    And the numbers were raising...

    and then...

    The problem is...

Nobody really believed we could win Best Kiss in a few hours. We've been losing this poll for days, to the point we gave up. Our % in the Best Kiss category was even less than in the Best Couple.

But what matters isn't the difference of %, but the difference of voting rate. And our rate was the massive 20k/20min in just one category (to have an idea, 2k/20min is a big rate on a normal day, without all the fandom coming together to vote).

So... math to decide what is best to do.

but we still had Best Fandom to win...

    and the voting goes on

    9 categories...

So in the end everybody is happy and celebrating and needing to rest for the next 7 years (not really, the Clexa Fandom still has much to do. We still don't have good representation. We're still an orphan fandom.)

This is all crazy, if you think about it. And if a person outside fandom try to understand what the hell is going on, it seems like a waste of time. I didn't even care about polls, tbh. I love these actresses and I live 24/7 for Clexa, but I wouldn't spend my days voting. But when you get closer and you look what is happening... it's much more.

I see hardworking, determined and smart people. Also really resourceful people that know how to put their skills to use. I see people having fun with something they're proud of, like a sport (nobody acts like it's a waste of a time when you have a bunch of straight men screaming when they see other men running after a ball..................)

But what I like more it's how 982332 people around the world in different languages and different cultures and using different social media found a community together, and they are so organized between themselves that they can do things like in a few minutes change the focus from a category to another, or divide themselves in different groups to work in different categories. And don't fool yourself, it isn't centralized at all.

This is one of the moments I love human beings. Because even if the media and the people writing stories for them act like they're just "angry teens", they are much more.

Now, to finish, let's treat this bellow like the Shoot fandom acceptance speech for winning Best Couple. Because they deserve it. And because if this was a world where minorities receive the same treatment, this would happen in the fucking Oscar.
