When You're A "Late Bloomer"

To all the people who've made 180 (or maybe just 90) degree changes between high school and college.

1) A cheesy as it sounds: A new chapter, a new you!

Sometimes, puberty hit you in your late teens.

Or maybe you finally got those pesky braces off, or lost 200 lbs (or 20) before college!

Either way, you're feeling fresh and confident

2) Right before college, you've stumbled into the magical realm of Makeup

Buuuut...seeing you've never experimented with it during high school, you looked a bit...like the girl from The Grudge your first semester of college.

3) But no worries! Roommates, dormmates, new and old friends, and YOUTUBE will help you out.

I think I spent more time studying the art of makeup through Michelle Phan and Pony than studio art with Professor Vernon.

Can we just take a moment of silence in appreciation of that CRISP, SHARP, and BEAUTIFULLY executed winged eyelinger?

4) Basically, no one recognizes you between a summer and a half, making you feel like a superhero that no one recognizes.

The same people who went to high school with you are reintroducing themselves to you.

"Hi, I'm Albert."

"Uh. Albert, we went to middle school and high school together."

"Wait..what..?"

"Uh...I'm Christina?"

"Holy mother of God."

And then have them circle around you, exclaiming all of the things that have changed about you.

5) Sometimes, people think you went under the knife.

Korea has a few sayings for this

1) 옷이 날개다

"Clothes are your wings" (meaning the way you style yourself will make you look FLY) or "Clothes makes the man"

2) 다이어트가 최고의 성형.

Literally translates to "dieting is the greatest plastic surgery" (meaning actual plastic surgery is unnecessary as long as you work hard).

3) 성형의 힘

"The power of makeup". Nothing else to say here.

And lastly to those who assume you've gotten plastic surgery.

4) 씨빠빠 나 원래 이렇게 생겨먹었어.*

"Bitch, I was born like this."

*May or may not be a real Korean saying

6) Your line of potential suitors have doubled...and you don't know how to handle it.

Why is he hitting on me? He's so out of my league..!

But wait.

He's not.

I'm hot as fuck too!

7) The world of Fashion gives you both an orgasm and a headache.

You experiment with different styles to find YOUR style, which results in a lot of clothes that end up gathering dust in your closet once you finally find it.

8) High school crushes act differently around you

Suddenly, they look at you differently, they smile at you differently, they're nicer, sweeter, and generally more interested to be with you.

9) But you see right through them and their conniving ways

My beauty is more than skin-deep.

10) You've learned to flaunt yourself, love yourself, appreciate yourself, and the appropriate way to take a compliment.

Apparently when someone compliments you, the answers "no. stop" or "I know" is not an appropriate answer.

11) Late bloomers are the best!

It's a rediscovery of yourself while your puberty hormones are (mostly) calmed down so you're not emotionally freaking out.

You have more control over your changes.

And you already know that physical appearance isn't everything, so people have mad respect for not only your beauty, but also for how deep your insight is on life and people.
