This "It" Scene Was Apparently So Terrifying That Bill Skarsgård Said It Had To Be Cut

If you haven't seen It yet, then go ahead and remedy that problem STAT.

Because it's breaking all kinds of amazing records and for good reason.

Now, if you HAVE seen It, then you know not only is it REALLY good (and, surprisingly, funny?!), it's also truly terrifying (in a smart, not-here-to-cheaply-shock-you kinda way).

Literally shouted, "OMG, WHY?!" in this scene, btw. LOL.

But, in a recent interview with Variety's Playback podcast, Pennywise himself Bill Skarsgård explained that there was an even more terrifying scene that was actually cut from the film.

He said:

There's a scene that we shot that was a flashback scene from the 1600s. Where Pennywise was before "Pennywise." And we shot it for additional shooting and the scene turned out REALLY, REALLY disturbing. And It's me ... I'm not the clown, I look more like myself.

Some fans theorized that maybe the scene in question was one from an earlier draft of the script by Cary Fukunaga.

Set in the early 17th century, the scene shows a mother allowing the (IT) monster to devour her daughter in exchange for safety. And, according to Digital Spy, "this scene also featured a Pennywise unlike the one seen by the kids in the movie, describing IT as 'incomplete, his flesh pale and translucent, like a half-formed imitation of a human.'"

And although this creepy-sounding scene was cut from Chapter 1, we may ACTUALLY get to see it in Chapter 2. Skarsgård continued:

I'm not gonna spoil what the scene is, because we might use it [in the sequel]. But it's a very disturbing scene, sort of a backstory for what IT is or where Pennywise came from. ... The idea is that IT, the entity, was dormant or resting for thousands of thousands of years and it [the scene] hints on [the founding of Derry].

Fingers crossed we get to see this disturbing cut scene soon!

Even if it's on Blu-ray, ya know?
