20 McDonald's Images That Are Slightly Shocking, But Also Very Interesting

    I'm lovin' all of it.

Most, if not all, of you are familiar with McDonald's, yes? I mean, you clicked into this post after all.

And while we're all familiar with everything from Big Macs to drive-thru menus, I'm willing to bet good money (or at least the price of a McDouble) that there are actually a bunch of interesting things you've never seen before at McDonald's.

    1. For example, I bet you're one of the MANY people who've never seen a McDonald's that has only ONE arch:

"McDonald’s actually started with one arch, and some locations go back to their roots."

This happens to be in Montrose, Colorado, in case you're wondering:

    2. And you've probably never seen the ONLY McDonald's that has BLUE arches:

"This is in the city of Sedona, located in the center of Arizona, which is famous for its stunning natural beauty — namely, its mountainous landscape of red rock. Because of said landscape, there are rules in place for buildings in Sedona to make sure that no structure intrudes too much on the surrounding natural scenery. When the McDonald’s was built there in 1993, city officials believed that a bright yellow M would do just that. They claimed that gold would clash with the surrounding red rocks, and opted for a more pleasing, soft blue."

    3. Bet you've never seen a McDonald's that ONLY sells ice cream:

"I know the exact location of this particular stall. Sunway Pyramid (in Malaysia), top floor."

    4. Speaking of sweets, how about this DESSERTS-only McDonald's:

"I bet the ice cream machine is STILL down."

    Honestly? I love this.

    5. Have you ever seen a cheeseburger bun from McDonald's that was as satisfying to look at as this one:

Fun fact: "My dad did some work at the factory where McDonald's makes their buns. If they don't reach that perfect shade of brown, they throw them right in the garbage. Long story short, he came home with a few garbage bags full of imperfect buns!"

    6. Unless you live in Europe, chances are you haven't seen this cardboard lid (yet) on your drink:

    7. And I'm willing to be you've never had a lid that did NOT have an opening cut into it for your straw like this one:

"Just drink it without a straw!" —Someone Logical

    8. Unless you've worked at McDonald's, I bet you had no idea there's a special BUN STEAMER for the Filet-O-Fish sandwiches:

    STEAMED!

    9. ALSO, did you know that the eggs in a round breakfast sandwich are fresh cracked eggs? BTW, this is how they're made:

    FRESH. EGGS.

    10. Speaking of eggs, you may not realize that the square (or folded) eggs aren't freshly cracked. Those ones come pre-packed:

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    11. It's semi-rare, but McDonald's sandwich boxes without anything printed on them have indeed been spotted in the wild:

"My local McDonald's is doing this too. I'm sure it has to do with supply issues with their regular packaging material, so they've dipped into their 'emergency supply' of unmarked, brown paperboard containers, plain white drink cups, and plain white, plastic-wrapped straws."

    12. Chances are you've never seen an instructional menu showing you how to make a Big Mac back in the day:

"I remember Big Macs used to come in those thin cardboard collars...I think? Or did this image just put a false memory in my mind?"

    D3vilUkn0w

"Not a false memory — this was back before they put them in boxes. The bigger burgers needed collars; otherwise they lost their structural integrity when you wrapped them."

    13. It's pretty uncommon, but there are occasions where a table can be reserved at McDonald's:

"More than likely it's for a group of elderly people. There's a group that have been meeting at my local McDonald's for years to have breakfast and chat. If this location has a group like that, they might just reserve it for them."

    14. It seems highly unlikely you've ever seen a freestanding telephone both at a McDonald's, complete with matching McDonald's roofing:

This is located at 1812 N. Neil St., Champaign, Illinois, should you be interested in checking it out IRL. (You can see it in Google Maps here.)

    15. And I bet you've never seen gondola lifts inside your local McDonald's:

This is located in Conway, New Hampshire.

And, YES, you can eat inside of them (there are tables!).

    16. Speaking of interesting decor, how about this McDonald's in Roswell, New Mexico, which gives off space vibes to go with the area theme:

"The Dunkin' Donuts sign across the street is held by a giant alien. Everything in that town is alien themed."

    17. I KNOW you've never seen a "McBoat" area for boats to PARK outside McDonald's:

    MCBOAT!!!!

    18. I bet you've never seen a McDonald's cup assembled inside out like this one:

    19. It's a little suspect, but this heart-shaped Chicken McNugget is honestly very cute, and very rare:

"I know we get nuggets that have fused together from thawing from delivery, but yeah, this is a fully breaded nugget…kinda crazy it made it through either way."

    20. And finally, once again, unless you've worked there, I bet you did not know that the buns have actual names...CROWN (for the top) and HEEL (for the bottom):

    Why from McLounge
And even CLUB for the middle bun, like in a Big Mac.

    Mind blown, TBH.
