Scientists have literally given gold leaf a meaning after finding that eucalyptus trees are capable of drawing gold nuggets from the earth via their root system to deposit the metal on their leaves, bark and branches.
Yeah, true story. So the nuggets are about one-fifth the diameter of a human hair and you would need about 500 trees to get enough gold to make one wedding ring....Just before you got too excited.
None the less, how did the gold get there in the first place you ask? The discovered gold is likely to have been deposited by meteorites when they collided with Earth. I mean, obviously.
