The Famous Kissing Couple From The Vancouver Riots Are Still Together And Adorable

    Chaos breeds closeness.

This is the famous photo of a couple kissing in the middle of the Vancouver Stanley Cup riots in 2011. She fell. He helped. They kissed. Love!

After the image went around the world, we learned the couple was Scott Jones of Australia and Alex Thomas of Canada. They gave an interview to CBC.

That was almost exactly four years ago. What are they up to now? The Huffington Post tracked them down in Australia. They're still together, and a copy of the photo hangs in their Melbourne home.

He manages a bar and she is an engineer with Yarra Valley Water.

Thomas told BuzzFeed Canada that their time together in Vancouver was special because she was able to show Jones her part of the world.

"It was a really fun time of getting to know each other," she said. "Plus, showing Scott all the things I love about the west coast: hiking, the mountains, the forests, Granville Island, taking the ferry, and yes, watching hockey."

"We love traveling so the standard four weeks of annual leave you get here makes a huge difference," Thomas said. "It allows us to explore new countries plus visit family and have friends visit us too." Here they are in Chile.

It's nowhere near as famous as the other photo, but photographer Rich Lam snapped another shot when the couple were on the street.

Jones told the Huffington Post they are happy in Australia and that Thomas recently applied for her Australian citizenship.

We asked her what's different about living in Australia.

"Australia is further away from everywhere, hotter and has possums and kangaroos instead of squirrels and raccoons," she said.
