Is Taylor Swift A Mean Girl? - Craig Dillon

Taylor Swift has changed. And something tells me she might be cold, hard, shiny plastic.

A letter to Taylor Swift - Craig Dillon

Taylor Swift burst onto the music scene in a whirlwind of banjos and blonde curls back in 2006, and since then has gone on to have the biggest selling album of 2015 and countless awards under her tight little skirt. But if we look back to the reason why she became so successful, it was all about being normal. She wrote heartfelt songs about bullies, not being noticed by cute boys and wishing everyone would be much nicer to each other. That sounds like my life. And yours too.

Remember when she won her first VMA and Kanye stole the mic? She stood there like an awkward teenager. I had the same reaction when my mum made a speech at my 16th birthday party.

The world was unfair on Taylor, she could never get the boy, nothing was the way she dreamed it, she's not a princess and this isn't a fairytale. And we loved it. She was me, she was you, she was all of us. No one can relate to stars like Beyoncé, everything Beyoncé ever wanted has gone right for her, yes she's hugely talented but doesn't it just seem like she breezes through everything that would bring most of us down? That's annoying. I like Taylor. She tries to make everything perfect and life being the bitch it is, throws it back in her face. It's okay Taylor, the same thing happens to all of us. When Taylor has a birthday party, what happens? Her boyfriend doesn't show up, and she's left standing there in her party dress in red lipstick, with no one to impress. Same Taylor, happens to me all the time.

Well it seems the Taylor we all fell in love with is no more. The lonely geek with no friends, who wrote songs with lyrics like "why you gotta be so mean", what would happen if Kanye tried to steal her mic now? She'd set Cara Delevingne on him, and that bitch can bite. (trust me)

It's sad, but I liked the Taylor who failed at life. The Taylor I loved would write a letter to Apple asking for them to pay artists, and would get a letter with "return to sender" sent back. And she'd write a sad song about it and we'd all cry together.

Who is this Taylor turning up to award shows with a gang of beautiful girls? I thought you were lonely and had no friends like me Taylor? I thought you hated the mean girls, but you know what Taylor, you've become plastic. Cold, shiny, hard plastic. You've become Regina George.

I first started to realise when the drama with Katy Perry happened, yes she may have stolen your dancers and tried to sabotage your tour, but we know Katy's a mean girl, and that's what they do. But you were never a mean girl, you were the girl who would apologise for something you didn't even do. Not anymore, now you go and shoot a music video filled with all your hot friends and guns and explosions and shooting. Like what? WHO ARE YOU!?

The day you released the Bad Blood video Katy Perry tweeted what we were all thinking…

So this is my letter to you Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and imma let you finish, but please, stop winning. Start failing again. I need someone to reassure me that my car crash of a life is acceptable, that these things happen to everyone, not just me. I want all your friends to ditch you and find someone cooler to hang out with, and for you to write a song about it so I can cry and sing along shouting SAME TAYLOR SAME.

So please, start failing again. Do it for me?
