17 (or So) Best (Out Of Order, Sorry It's Been Three Years) Memories From O-Week

It's senior year, so it's time to head back up to North Campus to a little place I like to call memory lane.

Moving into your first dorm

Congratulations, it's your first day at Cornell! Just remember moving into your freshman year dorm thinking about how you and your roommate were going to be the two best friends that anybody could be!

Go to dinner with your entire freshman floor

Table for 28.5 please? Don't know why one person is a half, but Kate's been waiting for stir fry for two and half hours, so I guess that's a half person.

Meeting Your OL Group

But wait after dinner, you get to meet your OL group. Remember following that mystifying Sophomore with so much experience as you navigate the recesses of Low Rise 6 and pick up all of your new buddies!

Going out the first night of O-Week

Now comes that first night you get to go out. Oh, remember the applause as you the twenty to thirty other freshman you went out with walk into Collegetown.

Your first time trying to find Collegetown

Yeah, Google Maps said it'll take us 20 minutes to get there...I promise. Just remember asking that random guy (who eventually would become of your best friends) on the stoop of the house which way it is to Linden.

Convocation

But, you had to wake up in the morning for that Convocation your parents told you absolutely HAD to be at. Your body was not ready for this one. You barely even remember Skorton's speech. P.S. It was probably about how Cornell students will take on the world or be amazing or how in the words of Kevin Garnett, "anything is possible!"

Your first RPCC Brunch

Remember the joy you felt when you found the omelet station for the first time? That is what dreams are made of. Luckily, we still have one more year to bask in the glory of RPCC lunch!

Off to the Cornell Store with the parents

Since you don't have enough Cornell sweatshirts, tee-shirts, hats, cardigans, imitation red solo cups and throw pillows, your parents have decided to take you to the Cornell store to buy one or two or twenty more things before they hit the road.

Your Parents Leave

At some point your parents leave and you get to finally be alone. And, it is everything you dreamed of and more.

Back to the OL Group

Head back to the OL Group for another day of fun group activities and university mandated sessions of integrating into the university community that you will eventually learn to love.

North Campus Block Party

Go grab some food at the North Campus Block Party. You get to meet tons of people you won't remember and eat some TOP ranked Cornell dining food,

Go 'Sploring

Go explore throughout campus to find all of your classes and various places your friend's older brother's best friend's ex-girlfriend who went to Cornell told you about.

Get Lost while Exploring

I mean you have absolutely no idea how you ended up at Ithaca College, but I swear you took that same bus last night and it definitely worked to get you back to Low Rise 6.

Maybe tonight stay in and play board games

Tonight, you are going to pretend like you're responsible. So, you'll play the random assortment of board games that your RA happened to find leftover from the kid who was really into board games last year.

Or maybe go out anyway

Eh, go out ... it's O-week. Nobody judges you during O-week. But, if you don't want to, you don't have to – hang out with your new friends in your dorm!

Time to start thinking about classes

Unfortunately (Or fortunately for your future self) you decided to go an academically focused school. So, at the end of O-week it's time to get your sh*t together and pretend like you're a functioning college student.

Navigate add/drop

There's nothing worse than having to try and get the last seat in writing seminar that will be as mildly entertaining as Add/Drop itself, but flash forward a few years, you're a senior now. You got this. Well...maybe not if you're talking wines but you'll figure it out. And if you don't there's always next ... Oh, right.

And the best part? We still have one more O-Week to go

So, get to ready to see all the friends you haven't seen all summer, grab your bathing suits for the gorge, put on your Canada Goose and see you soon 2017!
