    The Carolinian Creed

The Carolinian Creed is taken very seriously at USC and if you don't follow it, well expect to be the tiger in the hen house. It won't end well for you.

The University of South Carolina has a set of ideals that every student is obligated to follow. This creed is dedicated to the personal and academic excellence of every student and choosing to join this wonderful university also means following a code of civilized behavior.

    The Carolinian Creed states that

    "As a Carolinian...

I will practice personal and academic integrity;"

Do: Study and earn honest grades.

Don't: Cheat and copy other student's work.

"I will respect the dignity of all persons;"

    Do: Help others.

Don't: Ignore others' request for assistance.

"I will respect the rights and property of others;"

Do: Take care of others' personal property.

Don't: Take advantage of others and damage their personal property.

"I will discourage bigotry, while striving to learn from differences in people, ideas, and opinions;"

Do: Accept and be respectful of others' ideas and opinions.

Don't: Reject and belittle others' opinions and ideas.

"I will demonstrate concern for others, their feelings, and their need for conditions which support their work and development."

Do: Support others' ideas and help see them into action

Don't: Put others down when hearing their ideas.

The Carolinian Creed holds every student who attends the University of South Carolina to certain expectations, but it is our responsibility to uphold the Creed. When we fail to uphold the Creed, we not only fail ourselves, but the University.

Choosing USC also means that the University of South Carolina chose you, respect their wishes and expectations to make the University a better and brighter place.
