Who could forget these terrifying little things. One of the first mass produced toy robots, this thing emerged in the late nineties and would continue talking 'furbish' throughout the night in many households. Though they were meant to 'learn' English over time I still found myself turning its galago eyes away from my bed at night.

Back in 2004 a spiralled scoubidou keyring was an impressive feat, the less skilled among us having to make do with just friendship bracelets. However despite the time and effort involved, these gaudy plastic strings still gave a sweet sense of accomplishment.

Beat it Cinderella, there's a new belle in town. Short of a ring pop this was pretty much the most glamorous edible jewelery out there, and were a favourite in party bags.

In the days before the DS and Wii, the Game Cube and Game Boy were Nintendo's show pieces. The GBA promised hours of fun for bored kids on long car journeys, the closing lid of later designs popular among kids like myself who weren't yet old enough for a flip phone.

They may seem a little underwhelming to today's kids (when my twelve year old sister found mine she asked if it was a freebie), but back when they were actually pocket sized this was another great compact toy for kids on the road.

"It's Nerf or nothin'!" Arguably less fun than a super soaker, but this toy was a useful weapon against siblings and parents for many kids nonetheless.

Essentially the uglier counterparts of rollerblades. Virtually extinct, back in the early 2000s trying to manouvre these chunky shoes was a mission, but also carried great prestige.

Countless Tamagotchi were lost in my endless struggle to avoid the dreaded 'winged egg'. Keeping these creatures 'alive' was stressful, but also spawned the corner shop games and were fun to compare.

Great for the first few tries, until forgotten passwords and tears left parents desperately yelling commands at it. Not quite a Totally Spies compowder, but left me feeling tech savvy anyway.
