10 Characters They Need To Introduce On Gotham

They've already focused on some of the most recognizable characters (Penguin, Riddler, Two Face, etc...), but to really do the epic Batman mythos justice, here are a few lesser known names that should be introduced in future episodes.

10. Nora Fries

Mr. Freeze's wife has been frozen in time just about as long as we've known about her. Why not take advantage of the earlier time line to introduce the woman that will eventually inspire a highly successful scientist (Victor Fries) to sacrifice his own life to save her? She should be kind, compassionate, and have a very warm heart. Get it?

9. The Question

Vic Sage is old enough in the normal time line to appear as a younger detective in Gotham. He could even don the faceless mask and inspire a young Bruce to look beyond the law for true justice.

8. Henri Ducard

Most know the name as Ra's Al Ghul's pseudonym from Batman Begins, but in the comic continuity Ducard was one of the men that taught Bruce before he became the Batman. His morally ambiguity could really touch a nerve in young master Bruce, inspiring him to learn how to hunt a man.

7. Other Various Teachers

Ducard wasn't the only master/teacher Bruce sought out to learn how to become the face of fear. Why not bring in others, like the assassin Kirigi, who teaches Bruce ninjitsu, or Yakuza member Tsunemoto?

6. Clayface

Most live action Batman stories are afraid of using this visually complex character. But since we never need to see him turn into the globulous behemoth, why not bring in one of the MANY versions of the human character. Make him a Bieber-like teen hunk that you can tell will go nuts when he looses his trademark good looks.

5. Julia Pennyworth

This is a simple one. Alfred's estranged daughter, jealous of the kid that currently steals all of his attention. She should be young, but doesn't necessarily need to be Bruce's age. The important part is the tension she brings into the house.

4. Aunt Harriet

A nod to older Batfans. This character (who we haven't really seen since the old Adam West show) could be a Wayne family friend, and possibly the first person that Bruce saves on his own.

3. Tony Zucco

This mafia bad ass would fit perfectly amongst the numerous mafiosos. While he might not be a big name to most, he eventually becomes a key player in the story as he's responsible for the eventual death of Robin's (Dick Grayson) parents.

2. The Ventriloquist

The key to doing this character correctly is to NOT let him have Scarface yet. How creepy would it be if he's just a performer for children's parties? His split personality could be teased, just so long as it never fully matures into the Scarface persona.

1. The Grey Ghost

A no-brainer. This character is supposed to be a favorite of Bruce at this age anyway. The latest sequel of a hugely popular movie franchise should be filming in Gotham, giving Bruce a chance to visit the actor on set. And if you want to make it REALLY newsworthy... get Michael Keaton to play him.
