Ever since I went to Japan in 2005, I've been obsessed with Kewpie mayonnaise. Not only does it come in an adorable and neatly packaged squeeze bottle complete with an image of a pudgy little Kewpie doll, it is also incredibly zesty and delicious. Basically, it gives Hellman's a run for its money. I love putting it on sandwiches (obviously), using it in salads or dressings, or even slathering it on a cracker with some thinly sliced tomato, salt and cracked black pepper. It's at once creamier and more delicate than any mayo I've had in the great U. S. A., though I will always have a place in my heart for Hellman's. If you're a mayo lover (it's a club, you know if you're a member of this club because it's in your soul--same goes w/ butter) you must give Kewpie mayo a try. What you'll experience is a silkier, slightly sweeter, tangier mayo due to the addition of rice vinegar and the exclusive use of egg yolks (versus whole eggs in Hellman's). The color is slightly richer and the texture, less...mayo-ish. Did I mention I like Kewpie mayo? (^_+)
