Maybe I'll Have Fun This Time

Just when you start to think going out will be fun this time, don't. You won't have fun, and you'll end up regretting your decision immediately.

If you are anything like me, staying in and watching Netflix is much preferred over going out to any social gathering. Even though this is your idea of a perfect day, you always think just before you go out that "maybe I'll actually have fun this time", but oh how wrong you are. These are the common feelings that run thru my mind, and yours, when showing up to anything that involves getting dressed:

Driving Up

As soon as you pull up to the where you are meeting your friends and get a glimpse at everyone having fun, you immediately regret your decision. Most times I debate turning around and coming up with an excuse of why I couldn’t actually come, or begin thinking of a story for my early exit.

Saying Hi

Getting ready seemed like it was the hard part, until you realize you have to say hi to all your friends. This means saying hi to the people who are actually your friends, and the people you pretend to be friends with but really don’t like.

Then the inevitable happens. Once you’ve made your rounds of saying hi to everyone, there is a moment of panic when you are not a part of group conversation and immediately become the most awkward person in the room. You don’t know if you should join a group or pretend to be looking at something interesting on your phone, but whatever you decide to do, decide quick.

It Just Keeps Getting Better

Finally you decide to sit down by yourself to take a break from avoiding everyone while standing, because that can be exhausting. Then that one person comes up to make small talk with you, because they feel bad that you are alone, but you can no longer hide how miserable and annoyed you are feeling. (Sorry in advance to all those trying to be nice. It’s not you, it’s me.)

Time to Go

Finally you check your phone and you’ve been there for at least thirty minutes, which in my book, is an acceptable amount of time to pass before you GTFO.

Home Sweet Home

Once you get home, you congratulate yourself for being social (well kind of). Now its time to get back to what is really important, bingeing the newest season of Orange Is The New Black. Don’t forget to add a reminder in your phone saying, “going out really isn’t that great.”
