5 Things That Are Harder To Get Than An Assault Rifle In Florida

In the wake of the Orlando shooting, many people have been discussing the topic of gun control. Whatever your opinion, here is a list of five things that are harder to obtain than an assault rifle.

    1. A drivers license

Under Florida law, one does not need a permit or license to own an assault rifle like the one used in the Florida shooting that killed 49 people. Having said that, in order to obtain a drivers license in the state of Florida, one must first get their learners permit. To do this, you must have completed a Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) course. You can then go to the DMV with parental consent for a drivers application, proof of your ID, your Social Security Card, and proof of your address. You are also required to pass a hearing, vision, and written DMV test. After you receive your learners permit, you then are required to complete 50 hours of practice driving with a parent or guardian. Once you complete that, you must take a DMV drivers test. If passed, you will then receive your license.

    2. A marriage license

I would first like to point out that there is no wait time in order to buy an assault rifle in the state of Florida. However, when it comes to marriage, you are suggested to take a four hour premarital course. If you decline, you must wait at least three days until your marriage license is valid.

    3. An abortion

As I previously mentioned, there is no waiting time for buying an assault weapon. Although, in order for a women to receive an abortion in the state of Florida, she is required to meet with a counselor and then wait 24 hours before the procedure is provided. She is also required to undergo an ultrasound, where the doctor has to suggest that she views the image.

    4. Solar panels

Yep, you read that right. It is easier to buy an assault weapon than it is to get solar panels. If you wish to buy an assault rifle but don't have enough money, you are able to come up with a layaway plan in which you eventually pay it off month-to-month. Yet, if you can't afford solar panels, then you're shit out of luck. Solar panels are required to be paid in full, upfront. A study in Rolling Stone magazine even concluded that solar panels are uncommon in Florida due to the restricting laws regarding them.

    5. Cold medicine

If you've watched Breaking Bad, you know that the active ingredient in many common cold medicines, pseudoephedrine, can be used to make meth. Because of that, to buy certain cold medicines such as Sudafed, you must show your license and your purchase will be logged in a database. The government also limits the amount that can be sold per person and prohibits the purchase of more than nine grams in a 30-day period.
