6 Ways Janie and Santiago are like Seniors

Both Janie and Santiago go on a journey facing many similar characteristics as a senior’s journey.

1. 1.No matter what, you’re going to face obstacles.

Both Janie and Santiago had many difficulties through their journey.

-Janie went through many deaths of her husbands to find love.

-Santiago goes through a betrayal from his close friend.

High school seniors could learn that no matter what path you take their will always be obstacles you can overcome.

2. 2.The things we value and appreciate may be sacrificed.

Both Janie and Santiago had to give up things in order to find what they wanted.

-Janie had to give up her freedom

-Santiago had to let go of his sheep.

High School Seniors could learn from this that they give up things they want to do for things they need to do.

-Janie worked as a wife to make them happy.

-Santiago had to work in the crystal merchant.

-Janie met 3 husbands that she had different kinds of relationships with.

-Santiago meets the Gypsy and the King of Salem.

High School seniors learn to make new friends everyday in and out of school.

5. 5.I just can’t resist, The chance to risk.

Both characters take risks by giving up something they would rather do for something they need to do.

-Janie gave up freedom for her 2nd husband.

-Santiago gave up his sheep to continue his journey

High School seniors take many chances in investing into what college they want to go to.
