7 Tips To Help You Through A City, University Of London Graduation

Hooray! You're graduating! Graduations are big days that involve lots of people. Here are some tips to guide you through all the confusion and excitement.

1. Be on time!

The information in the emails we sent you wasn't just for guidance – those are the rules. Your lateness could hold up the ceremony for the hundreds of people who bothered to be on time. Don’t be that guy.

2. Don’t know where you sit? Can’t find the robing room?

Look out for Student Ambassadors in red shirts or City staff in a variety of different hoods. We're there to help you – as staff we get to wear the hood of the university we graduated from!

3. Can you handle those shoes?

Dress up for the occasion and wear shoes you can comfortably walk in, or be ready to style it out if you take a tumble while walking across the stage. (This is advice for men too – a slippery new brogue can be troublesome.)

4. All alone?

If your family can’t be there – no biggie, they can watch along wherever they are as we livestream all ceremonies here.

5. Have fun!

You just finished your degree! Allow yourself some time to see your friends and feel smug. Take lots of pictures and send them to us on Twitter and Instagram using #CityGrad

6. Let your family and friends enjoy the day

You’re totally an adult and don’t need to be mollycoddled, right? Irrelevant. Your guests will want to show you off and celebrate with you. . . they may also get a bit emotional. Go with it!

7. Don’t get too stressed about life after graduation
