    15 Reminders That Everyone Needs To Hear When They're Not Feeling Great

    A lot of us forget that at least 65% of our body is water, so why do we keep depriving ourselves of this?

    Keep a bottle and glass at the side of your desk so that you can take a sip every now and then. You should ideally be aiming for 6-8 glasses (1.2 litres) of water per day.

    2. Take small, frequent breaks from technology.

    Most of us spend the majority of our days staring at a laptop screen due to school, college, or work. Whilst technology is great, it's important to frequently rest your eyes to prevent eye strains.

    Take a quick 5-10 minute walk every hour or so. That way you're not sitting in one place all the time and you also get to give your eyes a rest from the screens.

    3. Remember that it's okay not to be okay sometimes.

    Remind yourself that you're not expected to be happy 24/7. It's impossible for anyone to be happy all the time. It's okay not to be okay, but it's not okay to stay that way.

    If you do find yourself being sad all the time, you should see your GP. Do not attempt to self diagnose, always see a medical professional when in doubt.

    4. It's okay to make mistakes every now and then.

    Don't be afraid of making mistakes, you're only human so it's normal to make a few here and there. As cliché as it sounds, we actually learn from our mistakes for a reason. So don't beat yourself up — it's all a process.

    5. Be kind to others and yourself.

    Yes whilst it's important to be nice to others, remember to be kind to yourself too. A little self-love and self-care can go a long way on days when you're feeling low.

    6. Take a deep breath.

    Did you know that there are breathing techniques to lower stress? It can literally be done anywhere and the NHS recommends that you incorporate it into your daily routine.

    7. Stop apologising for everything that's going wrong.

    Whilst a lot of people do this, you need to stop blaming yourself for things that you have no control over. You have no control over the past but you have control over your future actions. Remind yourself that you're amazing and that everything happens for a reason.

    8. Crying is not a sign of weakness.

    Dr. William Frey at the Ramsey Medical Center in Minneapolis found that emotional tears shed stress hormones through crying. And guess what? More studies also suggest that crying actually stimulates the production of endorphins, which is a feel-good hormone.

    9. You're not a bad person if you put yourself first once in a while.

    Know that it's okay to put yourself first. If you're tired or simply just don't feel like meeting up with friends, just say no. If they're your real friends, they'll completely understand.

    10. Get a good night's sleep.

    Getting a good night sleep is important for our health. Actually, it's so important because when we're asleep, our brains and bodies finally get to rest. This is important for both our physical and mental health.

    Most adults need 6-9 hours of sleep every night. You can set a regular bedtime schedule by working out what time you need to wake up. It might also help to keep a sleep diary.

    11. Make time for your loved ones, even if it's just a quick call to see how they're doing.

    In our fast paced world, it's easy to forget to check up on our friends and family. Even if it's just a quick catch up on how they're doing, it'd make your day a little better than it was before.

    Don't get me wrong, social media is great, but it's also a place where people often go to show off the best parts of their lives and because of this, some of us find ourselves comparing ourselves to others.

    The best way to overcome this is to either take a break from social media or simply don't follow people who would make you feel bad about yourself.

    13. Remember that slow progress is still progress.

    Just because you haven't gotten everything done today doesn't mean that you're not making a difference. Although it's sometimes easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, remember that every baby step contributes towards your goals.

    Set yourself small tasks such as "drink a glass of water" or "wake up at 7 AM" and tick them off as you go along. Through this, you'll be able to see how much progress you're making. Remember to reward yourself for completing these tasks. Rewards are just as important as the tasks.

    There will always be people who dislike you for no reason. Just remember that you can't do anything about that but what you can do is to remember that your opinion on yourself matters the most. Just keep being you and the right people will find their way to you.
