17 Little Details You Didn’t Notice In “Space Jam” That Are Going To Blow Your Adult Mind

    Everybody get up, it's time to point out references that went over your head as a child.

    1. When Lola gets close to Bugs Bunny's face and tells him not to call her "doll," he becomes aroused. His body instantly stiffens and sounds like a plank of wood when it hits the ground.

    2. When Stan Podolak comes to pick up Michael Jordan, he lists off all of the companies that were sponsoring Jordan at the time.

    3. When the Nerdlucks are at the basketball game, they're dressed like the Fourth Doctor from Doctor Who.

    4. The couple sitting next to the Nerdlucks are played by Dan Castellaneta (the voice of Homer Simpson) and Patricia Heaton (Debra on Everybody Loves Raymond).

    5. When Michael Jordan criticizes the messy gym, there's a call for a "spit shine" made by Daffy and Sylvester, two characters known for spitting when they talk.

    6. During a sequence that shows Moron Mountain, you can briefly spot the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

    7. When Patrick Ewing is seeing a psychiatrist about his basketball struggles, he's asked if there are "any other areas aside from basketball that you find yourself...unable to perform?" The doctor is referring to bedroom performance issues, prompting Ewing to quickly turn around, annoyed, and say, "No!"

    8. The toons' tryouts are held at Schlesinger Gym, a reference to Leon Schlesinger, who founded a production company that later became Warner Bros.

    9. In one scene, Charles Barkley is praying for his talents to come back. One of his many promises to the Lord is that he won't go out with Madonna again, a reference to a tabloid rumor that linked the two during the early '90s.

    10. Michael Jordan's dog is named Charles. Some have speculated that this is a pun and he's named after Charles BARKley.

    11. In one scene, Bugs says to Daffy, "What kind of Mickey Mouse organization would call themselves the Ducks?" This is a shot at Disney, who made The Mighty Ducks, AND the University of Oregon, whose mascot is a duck and at the time of the film's release had a contract with Disney.

    12. Marvin the Martian is the referee for the big game, perhaps because he's both an alien and a toon, allowing him to be unbiased in his officiating.

    13. There's a cartoon cameo featuring The Dover Boys, a Merrie Melodies cartoon produced by Leon Schlesinger Productions back in the 1940s.

    14. Another lesser-known Looney Tunes character, Barnyard Dawg (a nemesis of Foghorn Leghorn), is also spotted as a member of the Tune Squad.

    15. Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam pulling out their guns is a Pulp Fiction reference.

    16. Bill Murray wears a St. Paul Saints hat in Space Jam, which is the professional baseball team he's a part owner of in real life.
