People who complain about “literal vs. figurative” must also complain about misuse of the words love (Shakespeare would never love ice cream), terrific (shares a root with *terror* because people used to be scared of terrific things), awful (used to mean “full of awe”), awesome (used to mean something truly tremendous (or full of awe… weird)), and silly (used to mean holy/pure). People who complain about “whom vs. who” should also be complaining that we don’t have “wither”, “hither”, and “thither”. (meaning “to where”, “to here”, and “to there” respectively). People who complain about “I could care less” must also complain about “irregardless” (technically a double-negative) and “head over heels” (my head is *normally* over my heels).
Response to 10 TV Shows That Deserve A Second Life:
OK. First,Iconcur about Firefly. It isasuperior show to, well, all of the ones on here. Second, MST3K was cancelled by the USA network. It was sold to the Sci-Fi channel in its seventh season and then USA (owners of Sci-Fi) felt that it was not worth investing in and instead went for winners like Good Vs. Evil and The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne. Go team.
