I've Always Had a "Win as One" Mentality

I played soccer throughout my childhood, into college and most recently on the Starcom coed soccer team. That is until a 6'2" male goalie dove into my knee and tore my PCL. My Physical Therapist likened the collision to a car crash. I haven't played since but still thrive embodying a "Win as One" mentality.

I'm Disruptive (at least my Dad thinks so)

I grew up in a family of hoteliers. Since I was old enough to work, my dad loved having me work in his hotel in Kenosha, WI. After a few summers of going to work as the boss' daughter, I decided I had other plans for my future and took a job making far less money, having way more fun. He was unsettled, to say the least, but I never looked back. He eventually got over it. Though it doesn't appear that way in this picture from my wedding.

I'm Fundamentally Sound

My career started at an integrated agency in Milwaukee called HY Connect (formerly, Hoffman York), where I worked primarily on local/regional accounts and helped with new business pitches. After about four years there, I decided to take the plunge and move to Chicago, where I joined the SC Johnson account at DraftFCB... JUST in time for it to go into global review. I put in my two weeks notice the day before they lost the business and have been at Starcom on the P&G account ever since. Suffice to say, I've gained a lot of robust experience and have a solid foundation within the media marketplace.

I'm Fun, I Swear!

I'll say it, I think I'm a pretty good time. However at times, my friends and husband think otherwise - most often when I try to make them play childhood games (think, Yahtzee, Skip-Bo, Monopoly). One of my favorite games for getting to know people is two truths and a lie. Here are mine, see if you can guess my lie:

1. I'm a registered Native American

2. I was the inspiration for Dora the Explorer (my maiden name is Dora)

3. My uncle was the only US citizen not on the planet during 9/11

I'm Adaptive, Though Sometimes Begrudgingly

I've always had the BEST last name ever. Dora. Simple. To the point. People would call me Dora all the time. I loved it. With my recent marriage, I changed my name to match my wonderful husband (with a not so wonderful last name). Kavalauskas. It's crazy long and hard to spell. But I've embraced the change. I hear it's not the first time I'll have to in this whole marriage thing.

I'm Brave (For the Most Part)

I love a good adventure. One of the most fun and brave things I've done while traveling was going canyoning in the Croatian countryside. I didn't think I would go through with the trip and tried to cancel at the last minute but ultimately decided to suck it up. It turned out to be one of the most incredible things I've ever done.

I'm a Leader by Example

I consider myself a leader in the fact that I know what I want and I'm not afraid to go after it. I encourage those around me to do the same. It's the mentality that brought me to the Starcom P&G team, and why I believe I'd be a great addition to the GGT.
