When Their "Label" Refused To Pay For A Video, This Band Took Things Into Their Owns Hands. Find Out What They Did!
These days, everything happens on the internet. It's a fast-paced, do-or-die, hope-you-get-noticed frenzy of scrolling, liking, and trying to keep up. When the band Alpine Play relocated to Houston, Tx they immediately began hunting for shows and taking in the new town as their own. Shortly after, they thought they hit the easy-street when a couple of flashy gents began to take shine to what they were doing. They were offered a fairly decent deal from a local label and things seemed to be shaping up until they wanted to do more than just play small shows and benefits. When the band asked for a modest budget to shoot a video for a song they were about to finish, they were promptly denied and supplied with a lengthy list of excuses. After much deliberation, the group was left on their own despite the promises of much more. Alpine Play was not going to be left out to die, so they got a plan together and brought in their filmmaker friend and went to work. They finished the song at Studio 713 in downtown Houston and got straight to work fleshing out ideas for the video. The result was not just to make an average music video but to give them an opportunity to be creative and tell a unique story. They set out to make a short film like many artists have done, only to end with with a completely different idea. The final product being the beginning of an online series called Seen From A Submarine, in which they plan to tell a series of strange stories that will somehow all intertwine. The group partnered with Ridiculous Films and are currently looking for any other independent artists who want to collaborate on the story in their own way.
