Chennai2Singapore Team Stuck In Manipur!

The team who has decided to steer away from conventional audio launches are on a road trip in a first-ever attempt to launch the movie’s songs. While they have already released two songs their trip to Myanmar has been delayed due to the recent earthquake that hit Manipur on the 23rd of August.

Chennai2Singapore is an upcoming film that is directed by newcomer Abbas Akbar and has music composed by Ghibran. The team who has decided to steer away from conventional audio launches are on a road trip in a first-ever attempt to launch the movie’s songs.

They are on a journey through six countries - to drive from Chennai to Singapore by road which began on the12th of August. While they have already released two songs – one in Chennai and another in Bhutan- their trip to Myanmar has been delayed due to the recent earthquake that hit Manipur on the 23rd of August.

Ghibran has released an exclusive video on his facebook page on what happened.

“ We are stuck in Imphal, the capital of Manipur and we have to cross the Moreh Border to reach Myanmar. When we tried to go there a few times, we found out that our permit has been cancelled. Due to the earthquake, landslides have occurred. The car needs to have a special permit called ‘Carnet’ to be able to enter each country. Though we have the permit, the Myanmar Government has refused to give us permission. Even though many of them are asking us to return back to Chennai, we want to release the third song ‘Pogadhe’ as planned. No matter how much we try, it will only be possible for us to enter Myanmar on 2 September. However, our Visa is expiring on September 5th. As such, we will have to cross 1800km in 3 days. We are still asking for help at various places. We have been told not to enter via Moreh border as there is a war happening between Nagaland Tribes and Myanmar Army. We have promised to release a song when we cross the border of every country and this will be fulfilled. The situation here is bad but we strongly believe that we will be able to get the help,” says music director Ghibran.

Producer Ananthan says, “ The team that left for the road trip consists of Director Abbas, Composer Ghibran, Actor Shiv, DOP Karthik and a driver. After releasing one song in Bhutan, they were driving towards Myanmar, when the earthquake happened. They were pretty near the border and were forced to stop owing to the natural calamity. I was not even able to reach them inititally. However, they contacted me later saying that they have moved to a nearby hotel there. The problem is that they are yet to open the roads for vehicles to pass the border. I am trying to get in touch with the Myanmar Embassy to see if something can be done.”

The third song will be released in Myanmar and we hope the team will get through this tough period soon.
