Promising review: "This literally changed my life. I was one of those people who used to complain about needing to wash my hair DAILY. I have thin, light blonde hair. I looked greasy and unkempt after one day, not even taking into consideration working out or sweating. But now?! A whole new world. Now, my hair can look smooth and straight, because I don't need to wash, dry, then straighten every morning (what a time-suck!). Now, I just straighten and dry shampoo. I've used the extra time in mornings to improve my make-up routine, take my dog on longer walks, etc. AND I look more put-together at work. Get this stuff. Conserve water. Never look back." —Eemn83

Promising Review: "Tried these for the first time yesterday. They were super easy to use, not horrible to sleep on and easy to take out. Curls were full and fell nicely. I didn't have to untangle hair or pull to get these rods out. Please know I am a 30 something year old who has no hair skill at all so these are great for women like myself who throws their hair in a ponytail and goes because they lack skill." —Alyce Heifner

Bread Beauty Supply is a small woman-owned brand that specializes in products for textured hair. They carry hair wash, oils, masks, and scrunchies.
These products work best for hair types 3a–4c and is a Clean at Sephora product.
"I've been using these products for at least the last four months (minus the oil which I have not tried yet) and I love how they work on my 4C kinks, coils, and curls to achieve moisture retention and overall softness. Between the shampoo and conditioner, I actually adore the shampoo a little more since it has a creamy/milky texture and doesn't lather too much (my preference). Still, the conditioner is pretty solid for restoring moisture and other nutrients. I've also grown to love that both those products come in packets and not bottles. They are a little different from product packaging that I've used in the past but I realize I'm able to get out the very, very last drop of product with these squeezable packets. It's far better than futile bottle shaking and I know when I throw a packet away, that it's truly empty and I got all my money's worth, baby! 🤑I enjoyed it enough to re-up on another box set for myself and get two more for friends." —BuzzFeed Editor, Marquaysa Battle

Promising review: "First, let me start off with saying I have always HATED styling my hair. I’m not good at it and it takes WAY too long to do. My hair is fluffy/frizzy, and I have a lot of it. It takes me about 20–25 minutes to dry it with a normal blow drier. When I’m done with drying, it’s normally so frizzy and crazy that I MUST flat iron, or else it looks like I just woke up. Flat ironing would take me another 20 min or so, so we’re looking at 45 min total to do my hair. Nope. I don’t have the time or patience for all that, unless I’m going out at night. And then I discovered this Hot Tools miracle. I’ve only been using this a little less than a week, but it’s changed my hair life and I am telling all my girlfriends. It’s reduced my time from 45 minutes to 10. TEN!! Not only that, I don’t have to flat iron my hair, which saves time and heat exposure to my fine hair. The end result is SO smooth." —BayAreaShopper

Promising review: "I don’t usually do reviews on products, but for this one I absolutely have to. I have 3c type hair and struggle with a lot a breakage, unmanageability, and moisture. When my mom mentioned this product to me I didn’t take her seriously because of the simple fact that we have two completely different hair textures. I never would've thought this brand would work on my hair. I have always used ethnic hair products and stayed away from brands such as this one because of the alcohol consumption. I have never in my 22 years felt my hair like this. I feel like I have a completely different head of hair. This product is so amazing and I will FOREVER be using this product in my hair regimen." —Theressa Hailey

Just a note that you don't have to lay your edges, but this is great if you do!
Promising review: "Girl! This edge control is bomb. I have 4b/4c hair and this lays my edges no problem! It even survives the Caribbean heat. It didn’t turn white on me unless I packed too much on, but I just sprayed with some water before I applied and it worked out. It smells GREAT and it’ll last me ages. I bought it like, months ago and I still have about half left and I use it every day. GREAT bang for your buck." —Chelsea R.

Grace Eleyae is a Black woman-owned brand that originally debuted in 2014 after the founder experienced excessive breakage due to not having protection for her hair after an eight-hour road trip. The line specializes in silk- and satin- lined headwear that can be worn throughout all seasons as sleep, lounge-, and outerwear.
I personally own one of these amazing caps and it has changed my life. My scarf never stayed on my head throughout the night so I always experienced frizz in the morning. I adjust this cap with the hidden drawstrings and haven't experienced that problem since I started using it. The cap is also perfect for rainy, windy, or humid days. A traditional hat without the satin/silk allows the humidity to seep under and cause major frizz or leave me with the dreaded 'hat hair.' With the Grace Eleyae cap, I can style my hair before placing the cap on and when I get to my destination and take it off, it looks exactly as I styled it.

"If you have hair that gets greasy a mere 12 hours after bathing, please hear me out: the Headquarters for oily roots line is your new holy grail and it costs less than $8 per product. To give you a little more context, my hair is best described as boring. It’s thin! It’s straight! I literally have to use dry shampoo every single day of my life! Which is why I was so damn excited about this exfoliating scrub and cleansing wash.
First off, the grapefruit and basil scents are fantastic. I would bathe in it. I want a candle that smells like it. The scent is distinct without being overpowering, and it provides *just* the right amount of aromatherapy without overwhelming my very small, very poorly ventilated bathroom. The scrub feels like putty in your hands and doesn’t feel harsh on my scalp; the shampoo lathers beautifully, even though it doesn’t use sulfates or silicones. Once my hair was dry, I immediately got that just-bown-out bounce that you leave the salon with — when your hair is so clean that it feels like air. The best part… it’s extended the time I can go between washing my hair and my scalp genuinely feels clean. I can usually get away with washing my hair every other day (thank you, Aveda dry shampoo powder) but can now go two days *without* relying on dry shampoo! And with dry shampoo? Three days! And if you have oily hair like me… you know how ludicrously good that is.
TLDR; this line has been my favorite new haircare find in a while, and the brand itself has dedicated lines for oily, balanced, and dry scalps (their tagline is being ~obsessed with roots~) to ensure you’re getting the most targeted treatment possible. AND IT’S AFFORDABLE." —BuzzFeed Editor, AnaMaria Glavan

Promising review: "I LOVE the smell of this! Bought it due to frizzing from coloring my hair, but really didn't believe that it shortened drying time. I mean, how can something putting moisture on you hair shorten the drying time, right? I was shocked. I don't know if it cut it down by 50%, but I did notice blow-drying my hair took quit a bit less time. I am sold on this stuff. Makes my hair feel like silk, but not greasy (I was worried about it making my hair greasy) and it takes only a few sprays to get the results. I hold it about 15" from my head and spray the top, both sides and the back once, the rub it in with my hands. Perfect!" —Janice C. Henderson

Promising review: "This product changed my life. Before I found out about Cantu, I had heat damaged, dry, lifeless hair AND I was spending $15–$20 on ineffective products, hoping something would help me like my hair. Then I found this online and decided to give it a try. I’m so happy I did because it gave me so much confidence in my 3c/4a curls!" —EJ

Promising review: "This product is now an imperative part of my hair routine. Leaves my scalp feeling cleaner than shampooing alone. I was wary of the material, thinking it would snag and tug my hair out, but it slides right through. Awesome, awesome, awesome, so much so I had to get one for my husband! Got a set for my dogs too. It's helped them relax during bath time now and helps with their undercoats. 10/10 for sure." —Alexis

Promising review: "I found out about this oil a few months ago, so I decided to give it a go. It works great! I experienced 1.5 inches of hair growth in 2 months which is a lot for me. My hair normally grows like .5/half of an inch, so to almost double my hair growth is amazing. Ladies, you need to try this oil. I highly recommend it." —Tiffany N.

Promising review: "This repairing hair treatment works just like a hair mask. You wash your hair, and then apply the treatment to your hair and let sit for 5–15 minutes. It's in a little squeeze bottle, which is a huge plus because I hate having to scoop product out of a jar while I'm in the shower. The scent is nice without being overwhelming. After rinsing this out, I can feel a noticeable difference right away. My hair, once unruly and dry, now feels like silk. I can't stop touching it; it feels like I stole someone else's hair. My fuzzy puff of hair has relaxed into loose waves and each strand just feels considerably healthier. I can't believe the results after just two uses. I'm ready to start a very active Elizavecca fan club if anyone else is looking to join." —BuzzFeed Editor, Bek O' Connell

Promising review: "Magic, I swear this stuff is made from unicorns. I was doubtful, given that I have tried the gamut of hair conditioning treatments (yes, yes, I know this is NOT a conditioner, but a bonder) and all I have to say is WOWZA! After some really harsh processing (got my hair from dark dark brown to very very blonde so I could add funky colors), my hair more closely resembled hay than it did actual hair and as the weeks went on, the breakage started getting worse. I tried this at my last feeble attempt to salvage my locks after a friend recommended it and I am BLOWN AWAY by the results! It really does work." —shel.b.phd

Promising review: "This stuff has changed my hair game. I have excessively bleached hair. But this stuff is so great to my hair it has returned it to a soft, healthy, silky feeling. My regime is wash, condition for a while or use a protein treatment, let it dry till it's damp then I run like two to three pumps through my hair (I have long thick hair) and work it into the bleached parts. I dry and then add a little more after. I also add more before curling my hair to protect it from heat damage. The amount you get for the price is astonishing, considering most hair oils are less product for like twice as much. Buy it: works great, smells great, feels great." —Eva

The Inverse Hair Kit comes with one set of ice cores, a handle, carry bag, and ice mist.
Promising review: "I have religiously used my Inverse for years now and it has made a real difference to my hair condition. I would probably find it a bit hard to live without it now! I have a lot of hair (I’ve been told enough for two people!) and ever since I was a teenager, I have had some patches of very frizzy and coarse hair that I could never tame properly. I have tried lots of expensive conditioners, masks, oils, and taming products to no avail. I have even resorted to just chopping chunks of my hair off in frustration on occasions! Fairly soon after trying out the Inverse, the patches of hair that have caused me frustration over the years have become far less problematic and have grown longer and stronger than ever before." —Linda L.

This product comes out like a cream and turns into a serum once applied to hair.
Promising review: "I have fine, dry, curly hair and live in a high heat/humidity location. A dime size dot of this stuff on wet hands, worked into wet hair leaves my hair feeling like hair rather than a Brillo Pad! Sometimes, I end up working in some styling gel to get volume or definition. I have to say I'm impressed with this stuff." —leeharrison

Promising review: "I love this brush! I ordered because I saw a Youtube video of a girl with curly hair using it, and her curls came out amazing! I always do wash-and-gos, and I usually would only brush/comb my hair in the shower style it once I was out, but sometimes if I waited a little longer to style it, my hair would get dry and frizzy. It would be almost impossible to get my curls defined without getting back in the shower. With this brush, now all I have to do it spray my hair with water, put product in it, and comb it through with this brush, and my curls are poppin'! My image shows before and after use of the brush about 30 minutes after getting out of the shower. The brush is also very sturdy and you can take rows out if you want a looser curl!" —Kirstie

Promising review: "I have had my eye on this product for about a year. I saw great reviews but was hesitant to buy it because it’s not “curly girl friendly”. I ended up getting it after running out of my last oil and it’s AMAZING. It doesn’t make my hair greasy and my hair looks shiny and is so soft. I can’t wait to see how it helps my damage in the long run." —EliseKush

Promising review: "I love this gel. It’s so light weight! My curls are so defined and it doesn’t shrink my hair. I only use this product when I’m doing a wash and go and it leaves my curls shiny and bouncing!! There is no flakes or hard or stiff hair. I love this gel." —Menix

Promising Review: "This product is amazing! I learned about it after extensively scouring the web for the best detangling comb. After one use, I’m convinced it may be the most transformational element in the detangling process for my and my daughters’ hair. My 11-year old didn’t even realize I was comb detangling her hair when it was her turn until she heard me singing the product’ praise. It is so important to have a product like this on the market for those with 4c hair looking to maximize the length and strength of our hair; the detangling process often feels like a hindrance to this goal. Recommending this product to everyone!" —Customer

Promising review: "I have very curly hair and always have fly aways. With the humidity, they are much worse. I used this product and my fly aways stayed down all day, even after a run in 90 degree weather. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants to keep their fly-aways controlled!" —Sarah Lonneman

Promising review: "I am in love with this gadget! I’ve always used curling irons, but this is so much better. For me, I don’t have to be as mindful of how I’m wrapping my hair in the curling iron to avoid that antiquated style of overly curled hair. I love that the heated part is completely inside the barrel, so no worries about burning my fingers. It’s very quick to heat up - under a minute. You can easily adjust the settings for heat or how long you want the hair in the barrel before it beeps. Even if the unit hasn’t beeped and you want to release your hair sooner, you just pull it out. It won’t let your hair get stuck inside. If you try to put too much inside or the hair is too tangled to start, the iron beeps and stops pulling the hair inside. I have pretty thick hair and still have been able to pull in reasonable sections of hair. I’m able to curl my entire head of thick hair in about 10 minutes." —Blondie

Promising review: "I finally understand why this gel is very popular. Most edge control gels do not hold down my edges, but when I used this gel, even before putting a scarf on, my edges were down. My edges laid down so well that sometimes I didn't even bother with the scarf. At the end of the day, my edges are not the way they looked in the morning, but they aren't looking crazy like they do without the gel. I originally bought this gel for my wash and go styles, but have yet to come around to it. This gel does not leave white flakes or make my hair hard when I use. My friend with 4c hair even used a little bit for her edges and it worked better than the $20 jar of something else that she bought" —cheeech

Promising Review: "I'm always skeptical on new hair tools, as I've been burned many times (pun intended). However, I kept seeing posts about how great this tool is, so I bought it. I love it! My hair is to my waist and very thick and naturally curly, and it worked very well. It took me about 15 minutes to wave all my hair. The tool is light and has a comfortable grip. I use the highest heat setting and hold it on my hair for five seconds on each portion of the section of hair I'm working on. The waves can hold for days. The one trick is finding out how to style it the way you want, for the look you want. A great tip I learned is to flip the tool each time you use it on a section to alternate the way the waves face, it makes the waves look more natural! I highly recommend." —Ana V
