Switching tracks, pick some characters from teen mysteries, First, _Riverdale_:

You catch a break in the case... While waiting for an update, you finally get a night off. What do you binge?

Finally, pick a signature bag to always have on hand

A personal favorite, this archetype gets a bad rap. They're misfits, a little rough around the edges, slow to trust, and probably don't have a great home life. But if you manage to break down their walls... you've got the most loyal friend. This archetype tends to push people away, but underneath the armor, they're sweet, self-sacrificing, and oh-so-attentive. They never miss a beat, always ready to go to war for their limited loved ones.  
This character likely becomes involved in _the case_ as a suspect. Their interest in true crime, paired with their low social standing, makes them the perfect scapegoat. They're compelled to solve the case to clear their name and perhaps be seen, for once, as the hero.

The Misunderstood Loner

This archetype is obsessed with their grades, extracurriculars, and all things intellectual. They're drawn into _the case,_ a friend of the victim, or even a suspect, the only peer smart and competitive enough to pull off the crime in question.  
They're prone to burnout, working themselves well beyond most people's limits. They obsess over _the case_ until it eats them up, often getting trapped in circles, spiraling on details. They won't stop until a determined loved one manages to distract them and pull them away from their concocting. While a prodigal genius, they often overlook the basics, like eating and sleeping. Which means that while they often don't play well with others, they need a close circle to keep them grounded.

The Neurotic Academic

This archetype **is** _the case_. When something goes down in their community, they don't miss a beat. They have trust issues, especially with authority figures, and tend to be pretty into conspiracies. They're down-to-earth and they lean toward the darker edge of things. They're often able to empathize with those who others disregard, making them skilled at piecing together the concoctions of a twisted mind.  
This character runs with a small crew of close-knit friends, adopting society's misfits and acting as a sort of ragtag leader, uniting those who'd otherwise have never met. They're ride-or-die for those they care about, but tend to drift from the pack during times when they'd need them most. The archetype lives for the mysteries in life, they can't resist a dark and twisty puzzle. So when _the case_ popped up on their radar, they were torn between grief over the loss of a friend, and the cold, piercing excitement that comes with the thrill of the hunt.

The Impassioned True Crime Junkie

This archetype is all solar energy and emotional support. They're dragged into _the case_ by a need to protect, support, and aid in getting justice for the victim, who would likely have been a friend. This character isn't all about the darker side of things, but will tag along just to watch over their friends. They're a caring and empathetic person who'd do anything for their loved ones. While typically bubbly and light, this archetype won't hesitate to protect those they care about, no matter what it takes.

The Bright Best Friend

This archetype is obsidian incarnate, all shiny, sharp angles and hard, sleek planes. They enter _the case_ as a caring friend under the guise of a hardened truth-seeker. This character is all about the darker side of things, reveling in bringing about retribution upon guilty parties. Despite a heavy facade of pith and perfidiousness, they're a deeply empathetic person who'd do anything for their loved ones. This archetype will do anything for their small circle, and even enjoy cutting down those who'd threaten that which they hold dear. They take pleasure in revenge and hold their own sense of justice that leads them into _the case._

The Dark Best Friend

This is a pretty cut-and-dry archetype. A sunny personality perverted by the dark ramifications of _the case_. They're very well-liked in their community, and knowing everybody means that they can't help but get involved in _the case_.
