Why Men Who Drink Gin Are Better Than You

Four reasons why men who drink gin are just better. Well, better than you that is. Brought to you by Gintry&Co, the do it yourself home gin kit.

There's nothing more divine on this earth than a glass filled with a few fingers of well-aged whiskey, or a crystal tumbler brimming with a generous amount of good scotch. This is a sentiment most men would probably agree upon, that is if they have no clue what they're talking about. For the longest time, men across the country have associated elegance and class with drinking the darker spirits. They believe by imbibing a drink that has more fire and brimstone in its taste, they can somehow placate their quota of demonstrating 'manliness'. Little do they know that any modern gentleman with discerning tastes understands that it's not enough for a drink to have a bite and kick, it needs to have versatility.

This is why after some lengthy deliberation, I've come to the conclusion that men who drink gin are better than you. If you're feeling incensed at that assertion, don't pout buttercup, I plan on articulating my reasons below.

    Gin has versatility

For starters, men who drink understand the need for a dynamic spirit that can provide for a range of cocktails. Gin possesses a wide spectrum of flavors, notes, botanicals, and tastes that translates into hundreds of cocktail variations. Most guys fail to note that juniper is just one of many flavors that are instilled in the spirit, which gives gin a level of versatility that's incomparable to other liquors. Between martinis, rickeys, negronis and gimlets, gin has a number of classic cocktails that would satisfy the palate of any man.

    History’s greatest men loved gin

Whether it was Churchill and his penchant for martinis, F. Scott Fitzgerald and his affinity for the gin rickey, or even Frank Sinatra and his torrid love affair with hitting the sauce before each show he played, gin has held a special place in the heart of history's greatest men. It's pretty simple logic: if these paragons of class and style held gin in their hearts, then there's no reason why you shouldn't either.

A ‘perfect’ gin cocktail is difficult to make

Anybody can dump whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters into a shaker and make a great Manhattan. The necessary prowess, skill, and experience to make that perfect martini is enough to test the mettle of any bartender or mixologist. Gin cocktails require a craft and a discerning eye behind the bar, a good method of gauging the caliber and skill of any talented bartender.

    Women respect a gin drinker

Imbibing darker spirits (like whiskey) in mass quantity is a fool's errand because any real lady knows that it's boys, not men, who feel the need to metaphorically pound their chests when it comes to their drink of choice. Gin has a level of class and immutable elegance that proves a man has an astute level of taste. Gin cocktails also have a universality to them which translates into the unique ability to actually share the same drink with your female counterpart at a bar without them grimacing at every sip they take of your cocktail.

Gin drinkers are ahead of the curve for more reasons than those listed above, and it's not enough to provide a litany of points as to why men who drink gin are better than you (which I still assure you they are). This is why we suggest ordering your own kit from Gintry & Co., create some of your own gin, and discover for yourself why this ambrosial liquor from the gods is so damn good
