Amazing Covers

This is a simple list of some of my favorite covers of different songs, that are just as good as the OGs. This is by no means a complete list, but these are my absolute favorite covers found on the net. All of the links go to YouTube.

I Want to Hold Your Hand (the Beatles) - T.V. Carpio

This song was in the movie Across the Universe (a fantastic musical comprised entirely of songs by the Beatles) and is by far my favorite cover in the film. It is slow, beautiful and almost heartbreaking.

Okay, first, Kurt Hugo Schneider has AMAZING covers on his channel so go check him out. This is awesome because they literally do patty-cake the entire time, without messing up, and they all have such beautiful voices. It is a really pretty version of the song and honestly the video itself is so mesmerizing to watch.

Creep (Radiohead) - Postmodern Jukebok ft. Hailey Reinhart

Hailey Reinhart is an amazing vocalist, no question about it. But this vintage-y piano spin on Creep is next level. Do yourself a favor and listen to this gift from the gods of music.

Dreams (Fleetwood Mac) - Dana Williams and Leighton Meester

Oh this song is such a beautiful song, and these two ladies definitely do it justice. I am slightly obsessed with Leighton Meester, and so naturally I would love this. However, it is a truly lovely cover and I think both of the girls' voices sound amazing on it.

Fools (Troye Sivan) - RM and Jungkook

If you know me then you know that I am pretty obsessed with kpop, and one of my favorite kpop groups is BTS (you have probably heard of them but if not, a simple google should solve that). RM and Jungkook are both members of said group, and they team up to do an amazingly beautiful cover of an amazingly beautiful song. Check it out.

Wildflowers (Tom Petty) - Miley Cyrus

Okay, so this is one of my favorite covers of ALL TIME. Miley's version of this song is so gorgeous and natural, you'd think it was a song written specifically for her.

Hey Ya (Outkast) - Obadiah Parker

Hey Ya by Outkast is one of my favorite songs of all time, and while nothing can compare to the original, this acoustic, folksy rendition of it is so different that I actually like it.

Boom Clap (Charli XCX) - Lennon & Maisy

Do y'all remember Lennon and Maisy? Incredibly talented sister duo that basically started the "cup song" craze (it was a time before Pitch Perfect)? Anyway, this is my favorite cover of theirs, and in my opinion it is better than the original. These sisters have beautiful voices, and that paired with the stripped-down vibe make this good song GREAT.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun (Cyndi Lauper) - STRFCKR

Personally I find the original song a bit annoying (sorry Cyndi I love you), but this version is actually a favorite of mine.

Can't Help Falling in Love With You (Elvis Presley) - 21 Pilots

There are literally SO MANY amazing versions of this song (Elvis, Ingrid Michaelson, Hailey Reinhart, etc.) but this is my favorite cover (Elvis is still #1). It is super cute with the crowd singing along and the ukelele just adds a little something extra.

Summertime Sadness (Lana Del Rey) - Shawn Mendes

Before Shawn Mendes was writing and releasing his own pop megahits, he posted covers on Vine and YouTube. This is one of my favorites, and I listen to it even now in 2018. Classic Shawn Mendes, stripped acoustic with just his voice and his guitar, but it works very well for this song.

Call Your Girlfriend (Robyn) - Cher Lloyd

Cher Lloyd has such a unique voice, and I was a really big fan of hers as a young teen. This song (internationally popularized by Lennon & Maisy's cover) is an interesting one, because I don't really care for the original. However, Cher's version is so pretty, and it really shows off her vocal abilities.

Heart of Glass (Blondie) - Toadies

I love Blondie, and I like the Toadies well enough. But this cover is so different from the original it is almost funny. Don't get it confused though, the Toadies do an excellent job on this cover. It's on this list for a reason.

Dancing On My Own (Calum Scott) - Ashley Tisdale and Lea Michelle

This is another case of me not liking a song until I've heard a certain cover of it. I was so sick of this song and then I heard this version, and honestly it was like hearing a completely new song. These two women (who I loved as a tween, being a huge fan of both Glee and HSM) have some serious singing chops and harmonize perfectly.
