Shari Cleary Joins BuzzFeed As Senior Vice President Of Research & Insights
Industry Veteran to Expand On and Monetize BuzzFeed’s Rich Audience Insights and Data
New York, NY -- June 5, 2019 -- BuzzFeed, the leading tech powered media company, announced today that Shari Cleary has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Research and Insights, overseeing all advertising analytics and data driven thought leadership for the company, effective immediately. Prior to BuzzFeed, Cleary served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Insights & Research for Comedy Central where she oversaw analytics and consumer insights across all the brand’s platforms including digital and linear. Clearly is based out of New York City and reports to Lee Brown, BuzzFeed’s Chief Revenue Officer.
Cleary joins BuzzFeed which has the largest premium brand safe video network to uncover insights that help brands create meaningful campaigns by engaging targeted audiences and driving real world action. She also spearheads BuzzFeed’s industry recognized and globally presented thought leadership that has pioneered the way marketers look at audiences and modern measurement practices. As BuzzFeed paves the path for the future of advertising and digital media, Cleary also leads efforts to establish accurate and standardized distributed measurement that is representative of cross-platform audiences.

Cleary brings more than 20 years of experience in media analytics. Prior to her role as Senior Vice President at Comedy Central, she rose the ranks at Viacom, including leading the Digital Strategic Insights & Research team for the company’s Music and Entertainment Group. During that time she oversaw digital research and projections across MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, Paramount TV and TVLand’s websites, mobile apps and social media accounts. Before Viacom, she held senior research roles at Adobe Omniture and CBS, with early stints in her career at Comscore and ACNielsen. Cleary also previously served as an Executive Board Member for the Digital Analytics Association, co-founded the Media Special Interest Group, and has spoken at numerous industry conferences worldwide.
