(NEW YORK, November 7, 2017) — BuzzFeed today announced its first-ever series for Facebook Watch, BuzzFeed’s RelationShipped, which follows one single guy looking for love among ten eligible women...with a big catch. In this love story, the audience plays cupid, selecting the contestants and shaping the competition with all the interactive features of the most popular social platform in the world.

BuzzFeed’s RelationShipped debuts Thursday, November 9 with a special premiere episode in which the five finalists for the “Single Guy” will be revealed, giving fans from 1:00 p.m. ET that day to 7:00 a.m. ET on Friday, November 10 to vote for their favorite. RelationShipped’s season of eighteen 15-minute episodes will unfold in real-time, as new episodes debut on Mondays and Thursdays only days after they are shot...with the audience controlling twists and turns along the way.

“Facebook Watch provides a unique opportunity to combine the interactivity of social media and the storytelling of television in one, seamless experience,” says BuzzFeed’s Head of Development Matthew Henick. “‘RelationShipped’ is an experiment to see what happens when you can do more than just root for your favorite contestants in a dating show, and actually shape the game. The fun part is that we haven’t even shot it yet, so we’ll find out when the audience does.”

From choosing the leading man to submitting date suggestions to even nominating their friends to join the show in-season, the audience will help control RelationShipped as it unfolds in real time. The chosen “Single Guy” will be revealed in the second episode when he moves into the guest house of his temporary new home, a Los Angeles-based mansion, and awaits the first two contestants to arrive for their first dates. The “Single Guy” will choose one to move into the main house, while the other is asked to leave. The series continues with the viewers’ real-time participation playing a pivotal role in shaping this modern-day romance. At the end of the season, the “Single Guy” will ideally select one contestant to move to his hometown and make the relationship official.
