BuzzFeed Japan Announces Scott Mackenzie as CEO

    BuzzFeed Japan is proud to announce Scott Mackenzie as its new CEO. Mackenzie will lead BuzzFeed’s operations in Japan, which is a joint venture with Yahoo Japan Corporation, and is responsible for the over all growth and success of the company, including BuzzFeed’s advertising business, video business and franchises such as BuzzFeed News and Tasty Japan.

    The appointment marks a return to Japan for Mackenzie, who previously spent six years in Tokyo with NBCUniversal’s Universal Global Networks and Universal Pictures International Entertainment groups. In 2014, Mackenzie relocated to Singapore, where he was VP of Channels, Asia for the Networks group. During this time, he executive produced a number of hit local reality series, as well as E! News Asia. Most recently, Mackenzie has worked with Universal Music Singapore/Malaysia, developing content for film and TV. After starting his career with MTV in New York, he later moved on to assignments with MTV in Berlin and Seoul, where he served as Head of Programming. Mackenzie has a Master’s Degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
