“Peter’s broad skillset and deep understanding of digital media make him the perfect fit to both lead our Tech team and serve as a strategic partner to our executive team,” said Nguyen. “I’m confident that his entrepreneurial spirit and knack for innovation will enhance the user experience for our audience as well as drive meaningful growth for the company as we continue to strengthen and diversify our business.”

Wang brings more than 15 years of tech experience in engineering, product, and growth to BuzzFeed from a career spanning across a variety of industries, including venture-backed consumer apps, digital media, SaaS, and financial services platforms. He was CTO at Narrativ, a commerce platform that powers monetization for publishers and retailers, where he doubled revenue within the first year of launch, and Head of Engineering at Buddy Media, where he built out the team and integrated an acquisition by Salesforce. Wang started his career in financial services, managing trading and wealth platforms at Morgan Stanley, Citi, and UBS.

“I’m passionate about BuzzFeed’s mission to spread truth and joy to its audience, and I’m eager to use technology to continue deepening BuzzFeed’s relationship with its users and building meaningful communities online,” said Wang. “With its diversified revenue model, massive scale, and ability to adapt, experiment, and innovate, BuzzFeed is well-positioned for the future. The opportunity to join the leading digital media company and lean into BuzzFeed’s digital advantages to continue moving toward sustainable profitability is exciting.”
