    Thomas Kohnstamm

The Lonely Planet writer says he made a bunch of stuff up, accepted free food and lodging for favorable reviews, and sold drugs on the side just to survive.

Kohnstamm's book, "Do Travel Writer's Go To Hell?", comes out shortly, and the jury's out about whether the news is a well-timed publicity stunt, another entry in our on-going obsession with the line between truth and fiction, or just a bunch of his quotes taken out of context?

Editorial note: Whoa! You've found a super-old post here on BuzzFeed, from an earlier era of the site. It doesn't really represent where we are anymore, and may in fact be totally broken, but we're leaving it up as a part of our early history.
