    Channel 4 / Via youtube

Like most great British programs, Skins was followed by a horrible US remake, but the original is best. The show introduced tons of now recognizable faces, like Nicholas Hoult, Hannah Murray, Joe Dempsie, and Jack O'Connel, to name a few.

And side note, the show takes place and was filmed in the UK's greatest and most underrated city: Bristol.

A vampire, a werewolf, and a ghost share an apartment...no I'm not trying to make a joke, that's the general premise of this program. They're just trying to live a 'normal' life as best as three supernatural people can. Also, Aidan Turner is beautiful and in the first three seasons.

    14. Broadchurch

    ITV / Via Youtube

This is a super gripping, emotional roller coaster of a drama, acted to absolute perfection by the entire cast. A peaceful, sea side town is ripped apart after the death of an 11 year old boy and everyone begins to suspect everyone. The first season follows the investigation into who committed the terrible crime and the second season deals with the fall out when the culprit is found. 15. The Great British Bake Off

    View this video on YouTube

    BBC / Via Youtube

This is actually listed on Netflix as 'The Great British Baking Show' (wtf PBS) but let me tell you this is the BEST food competition out there. It's totally a lovely, feel good show, mixed with some really amazing dirty double entendres. Bask in the glory of Mary Berry and the judging of contestants' soggy bottoms. The 7th season starts this summer, but unfortunately for us Netflix only has the first season.

Netflix has: 1 of 6 total seasons

    16. Luther

    BBC / Via Youtube

Idris. Elba. That's really enough reason to watch this amazing BBC drama. Elba plays the dark, twisted, complicated, brilliant detective John Luther as he works tirelessly to solve murders.

Netflix has: 3 of 4 total seasons

    17. Survivors

    View this video on YouTube

    BBC / Via Youtube

I will preface this with a warning: Survivors (like many shows) was canceled before its time and therefore ends on a pretty annoying cliffhanger. That aside, the show is a really great look into what happens to people after society falls apart. The show follows a small group of survivors of a deadly flu that wipes out most of the worlds population.

Netflix has: 2 of 2 total seasons

    18. Land Girls

    View this video on YouTube

    BBC / Via Youtube

A really lovely period drama centered around four women in the Women's Land Army, working on an English country estate during WWII.

Netflix has: 3 of 3 total seasons

    19. Black Mirror

    View this video on YouTube

    Channel 4 / Via Youtube

From the incredibly talented and brilliant Charlie Brooker, this program is truly unlike any show you've ever seen. Think a tech filled, more creepy and twisted Twilight Zone. Seasons 1 and 2 consist of three stand alone episodes and season 3 consists of one creepy ass Christmas special. Even though the first episode aired in 2011 it was recently in the UK news after coincidentally predicting a prime minister sex scandal with....a pig.

Netflix has: 3 of 3 total seasons

    20. Top Boy

    Channel 4 / Via Youtube

This program focuses on the goings on at an East London estate, where drug dealers work in the open. The story follows ambitious drug dealer Dushane and innocent teen Ra'Nell who's forced to grow up quickly after his mother is put in a mental hospital.

Fun fact: allegedly Drake loves the show so much he offered to pay for a third season.

Netflix has: 2 of 2 total seasons

    21. Fresh Meat

    View this video on YouTube

    Channel 4 / Via Youtube

Another show on the list that's still airing, but just barely, the last season is finishing up on Channel 4 right now!

Catch up with a group of 6 college students, sharing a house, and just generally trying to make it through life. The show mixes a couple of other programs on this list: it's from the same people that created Peep Show and features Inbetweeners alumni Joe Thomas. Also, if you don't make it out without having a major girl crush on Vod, you don't have a soul.

Netflix has: 2 of 4 total seasons

    22. The Paradise

    View this video on YouTube

    BBC / Via Youtube

It's no secret that no one else does costume dramas better than the UK and if you're totally into the whole period piece thing, this is right up your alley. The program follows the lives of those who work, shop, and trade in and around the very first department store in Britain.

    24. Ripper Street

    View this video on YouTube

    BBC / Via Youtube

As you probably guessed from the title yes, this is a show about Jack the Ripper. Instead of following the infamous killer himself this focuses on the police precinct charged with keeping the Whitechapel district in line. The first season takes places about 6 months after the Ripper's last murder in Victorian London. Heads up: Game of Thrones fans will recognize Jerome Flynn, who plays Bronn, as a detective in the show. Season 4 is on Amazon Prime now!

Netflix has: 3 of 4 total seasons

    25. The Fall

    View this video on YouTube

    BBC / Via Youtube

Another gripping detective drama on the list, this one follows senior investigating officer Stella Gibson as she tries to solve a string of murders in Belfast. From the beginning viewers know who the guilty party is, Paul Spector, who's leading a double life as father/husband by day and serial killer by night. All of the performances in this show are amazing but Gillian Anderson is FIRE as Stella, and series 3 is filming right now!

Netflix has: 2 of 2 total seasons

Netflix has: 2 of 2 total seasons

    28. River

Similar to Luther, River is about a detective with a fragile, unstable mind. This program follows John River, played to perfection by Stellan Skarsgård, who's haunted by the dead and the murder victims he investigates.

Netflix has: 1 of 1 total seasons

The show is set in the near future and after a government cover up of the source of a massive explosion, photo journalist Jennifer Preston begins investigating. What she discovers is a creepy paranormal phenomenon haunting the city. Check out fellow Game of Thrones alumni Natalia Tena and Iwan Rheon in this spooky, sci-fi/supernatural thriller.
