11 Bucket List Experiences for Every Dartmouth Sophomore Summer

Okay 18s... We know that as a child you *dreamed* of going to school in the summer and now here you are, living it! Even with classes sophomore summer can be a time to make some of the best memories of your life, whether or not you remember them the next morning. Welcome to Camp Dartmouth! To get you started we’re making a list of must-have experiences, because no one should tackle summer session alone:

1. Gather a squad to go to the river and bring handwritten letters that you’ve written to people who have wronged you.

Collectively throw them into the river and feel its power and majesty wash away your spite. Then go skinny dipping!

2. Get yourself and 7 friends to spell out B-I-G G-R-E-E-N using peas from your drunk Foco meals.

Classic!

3. Beg your professors to have class on the green, then when they do get your whole crew to pretend they’ve been stung by a wasp’s nest near where you’re sitting.

4. Make a team for Fieldstock to take back the honored tradition of Tubestock which was wrongfully stolen from Dartmouth students by municipal bylaws.

Have everyone compete at Fieldstock in inner tubes.

5. Start prep early for Masters.

Everyone knows that in summer session, your grades are determined by your ratio of wins in a row to arguments over what the “house rules”. Make sure to always rack the cups to resemble the likeness of Eleazor Wheelock, founder of Dartmouth College.

6. Make everyone who was valedictorian of their high school compete against each other in a s’more eating challenge.

Whoever eats the most s’mores gets the coveted “it’s cool to try hard” graduation tassel! Download Friendsy so that you can mutual with with whoever wins the tassel. Then steal it.

7. Now that you have Friendsy, get a jump on completing the Dartmouth 7!

Make a treasure map with X’s marked on the seven spots: Dartmouth hall steps, top of the hop, middle of the green, the stacks, BEMA, president’s lawn, and 50 yard line. Then every time you match with someone you guys can tackle one together!

8. Head to the Japanese Brush Ink Paintings exhibition at The Institute for Lifelong Education.

You can never get enough culture while at summer session!

9. Run to the top of the bell tower and frantically ring the bells to alert your fellow sophomores of the coming blood red dawn.

Any color besides green is forbidden on campus, every student knows this.

10. Strategically match with other sophomore summer students using Friendsy!

Gather together while solemnly chanting and begin work on constructing a new way to contain the ever-present ancient evil on campus. Every sophomore class must work to keep this horrific poltergeist at bay.

11. Sing the Dartmouth fight song, “We Go To Dartmouth College and That’s Okay”, very loudly on top of a hill.

Celebrate a successful rendition with a jump in the river!
