One day you're sitting in the back of a seedy restaurant, or maybe on a bus, a grocery store, or your ex-boyfriend's mom's car (it's not as creepy as it sounds). Regardless, a song comes on that you literally haven't heard in years and as all the words come back, so do all the feels and memories. Maybe it's a love song that you were obsessed with when you were 14 or a song that you really got jiggy with, or maybe a song that you actually despised, it doesn't matter, it was a part of you and a part of culture. "Jazzy Fizzle Producshizzle" was the way a lot of songs started back in the day. To 15 year old me, that signaled that I was about to have to stop what I was doing and break it down in my pink Nikes. I just knew it.

6. Lose Control- Missy Elliot feat. Ciara

When this song came on you went "YASSSSSSS!!" even though I'm pretty sure that wasn't a thing yet.

7. What You Got- Colby O'Donis feat. Akon

This song came out in the summer and it was the jam. THE. JAM. You actually bought apple pies from Mickey D's because of this song.
Oh, only me? I'm not changing it.

8. Obsession (No Es Amor)- Frankie J feat. Baby Bash

You know you wished Frankie J was serenading you but you also knew you didn't totally understand why Frankie J was upset. He had the girl somewhat and he said he didn't care if she had a man. He was kind of setting himself up. Just my two cents.

9. Yo (Excuse Me Miss)- Chris Brown

Back in the day, (before all kinds of mess hit the fan and came out the front door), you probably would've given Chris your number. Even after he followed you into a car. This music video gave me a very strange perception of what was OK. Just FYI, STRANGERS GETTING INTO YOUR CAR WITH YOU IS NOT OK. CALL 911.

10. Shake It- Metro Station

For like 20 seconds,( 20 seconds okay), you wanted to be Trace Cyrus' vest. Or maybe just wanted a vest as cool as his. You also thought, "I could tell that you could tell that I was taking my time" was lyrical genius.

12. Beautiful Soul- Jesse McCartney

OK, so maybe you didn't forget this song but I HAD TO INCLUDE IT. So many 13 year old feels. I was actually 13 when this song came out and it basically defined my crush life. I knew what I needed in a man. I also knew that if Jesse McCartney asked me to be his beautiful soul I didn't need time to think it over. The answer was (and is still) YES.

13. Let Me Hold You- Bow Wow feat. Omarion

First polyphonic ringtone.
Also, homegirl in the music video definitely had plans and Bow Wow should have been mad suspicious. She didn't have to get dressed or anything. She was already dressed.....if you catch my drift.
Again 13 year old feels.

Even without the music video, you knew exactly what Swizz meant by 'stank' and what the girls outfit looked like. I will let you relive that moment again.

This song was just so amazingly chill, mellow and perfect. Also, Adam Levine is wearing a sweater.

17. Mo Money Mo Problems- The Notorious B.I.G. feat. the Artist Formerly Known as Puffy, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Sean Combs, Sean P. Diddy Combs, Diddy, Not Yo' Diddy, and Any Combination of the Aforementioned.

"I think his pants are a little too tight and he really has wedgie." The dancing in this video and the mustaches are not to be trifled with. This is still the jam.

Solid song and Jojo displayed serious talent at a very early age. But I was always confused as to where he was supposed to leave. I mean they were 13 and the whole ordeal took place at school...so many questions and just as many 13 year old feels.

He really didn't like the word 'you'. Ultimate getting ready song. Whether you were going to the club (if they had those for 12 year olds) or the grocery store (way more likely), this was the song to play in preparation.

25. Crank Dat Batman- Pop It Off Boyz

We cranked (crunk (?) Krunk (??)) a lot of things back in the day. Superheroes in particular.

26. 1985- Bowling for Soup

The song was great but the music video made it better. Basically, this was also a yes song.

27. Come Back to Me- Vanessa Hudgens

Remember that rule where all Disney stars must record a song at some time or another? I think it's called Murphy's Law? I'm not sure but anyway, BABY V EVERYBODY!!

28. Chicken Noodle Soup- Young B

There were a lot of food related songs but they were all necessary and helped you up your cooking game. If she hadn't said anything about that soda on the side, the world would not be the same. Thank you Young B and hype man (aka Webstar I believe(?)), thank you.

I also appreciate her PSA at the end telling all those "whack labels" to stop trying to sign her. She did us a bigger favor than we will ever know.
