10. Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman
Barrymore and Kopelman, an art consultant, kicked off the new year by announcing their engagement, and in June, the pair threw a beautiful vintage romance-themed wedding in the backyard of Barrymore’s home in Montecito, California. The new mom wore a Chanel, and the guest list included Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz (who helped plan the wedding), Jimmy Fallon, and Busy Philipps.
9. Cynthia Nixon and Christina Marinoni
Together since 2004, the couple got engaged three years ago during a rally in support of same-sex marriage in New York — which was legalized in July of 2011. Wearing a custom gown by Carolina Herrera, the Sex and the City star legally married Marinoni, an education activist, in May.
8. Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan
Facebook creator and CEO Mark Zuckerberg married his high school sweetheart, Priscilla Chan, during a surprise celebration in June. The low-key couple chose an intimate backyard celebration in their Palo Alto home, catching guests off-guard, who thought they were there for Dr. Chan’s graduation party.
7. Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman
Hathaway and Shulman held their wedding at a private estate in Big Sur, California in September. Over 100 guests attended the private ceremony and reception, filled with nature-inspired décor. The bride wore a custom Valentino ballgown with off-the-shoulder sleeves, which she accessorized with a luxe headpiece.
6. Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth
Although this couple married in 2011, they earned a spot on Google’s most-searched list this year, likely due to their exciting baby news. Wearing a blush Monique Lhuillier gown, Witherspoon married Hollywood agent Toth at her ranch in Ojai, California. After the wedding, they snuck away for a familymoon with Witherspoon’s kids from her previous marriage, Ava and Deacon.
5. Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin
The Jumping the Broom star exchanged vows with Columbia Pictures VP and preacher DeVon Franklin at a Malibu winery in June. 400 guests joined the couple for a Spanish and bayou-themed reception. The couple first met six years ago while discussing a film project and began dating after working together on the wedding flick Jumping the Broom. “At the movie premiere, I literally had about four or five of my girlfriends looking for him like school girls,” Good told People. “We’ve been together ever since,” added Franklin.
4. Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford
The actress and the Mumford & Sons frontman first met as children — they were pen pals in London —and later reconnected as adults. They tied the knot in April, surrounded by about 200 guests, including Sienna Miller, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Colin Firth, in England.
3. Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves
The actor married his longtime love in Texas back in June. The wedding was a true celebration; guests camped out in dozens of state-of-the-art tents, equipped with air conditioning units, patios and even doormats, in the back garden of the couple’s estate. McConaughey looked like an Old Hollywood movie star in his Dolce & Gabbana tux, and Alves wore a dress from her favorite Brazilian designer. She also incorporated her heritage by serving traditional, rotisserie-style meats and having the band play Brazilian rock hits.
2. Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively
In one of the most surprising celebrity weddings of 2012 (no one even knew they were engaged!), Lively and Reynolds said “I do” at Boone Hall Plantation in September before about 70 guests. The bride wore a Marchesa gown, and the groom wore Burberry. During the reception, Lively’s close friend, Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machines) performed three songs.
1. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
It’s no surprise that Mr. and Mrs. Timberlake rank #1 on the list. The A-listers got married at the beautiful Borgo Egnazia resort in Puglia, Italy in October. Biel made headlines for her custom-designed pink-and-white gown by Giambattista Valli, and Timberlake wore a custom Tom Ford tux that he helped design. The hottest wedding of the year kicked off with a pre-wedding beach party dinner on Oct. 16; the following day, the group visited a grotto to experience the local culture, which included sampling delicacies and watching an Italian folk dance performance. The guest list included Beverly Mitchell, Andy Samberg, Jimmy Fallon, and Timbaland. At the reception, Timberlake performed a new song dedicated to his blushing bride.
