"Not Everybody Is At Their Best Every Single Day": Tom Hanks Revealed That He Has Had "Tough Days" On Set Trying To Be "Professional"

Yes, even Tom Hanks sometimes has his off days.

When it comes to beloved celebs, Tom Hanks is probably at the top or near the top (only because arguably Dolly Parton might be number one) of everybody's list .

The two-time Oscar-winning actor has had an over 40-plus-year career, and throughout it, he has never been one to be surrounded by scandal or be the subject of bad press.

And at age 66, Tom is adding something new to his long résumé: novel author (he has previously published a book of short stories, Uncommon Type: Some Stories, in 2017). But in his just published debut novel, The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece, Tom wrote about what he knows: movie making!

In the book, Tom writes about an actor who keeps disrupting production during the filming of a multimillion dollar superhero movie.

When promoting the book with the BBC, Tom revealed that he has had his on-set moments of disrupting productions, saying, "I have pulled every single one of those moments of behavior myself on a set."

He then added, "Not everybody is at their best every single day on a motion picture set." Tom went on to explain, "I've had tough days trying to be a professional when my life has been falling apart in more ways than one and the requirement for me that day is to be funny, charming, and loving — and it's the last way I feel."

And while Tom admits to having moments of not always being the happiest on set, he did say that when it comes to delaying a production, that is a big no-no in his book, saying, "What cannot occur on a motion picture is that someone cannot monkey around with the timing or the length of the shoot or the budget. That is a cardinal sin in the motion picture business."

He went on to add, "You'd be amazed at how many people know that they can get away with it, and are told they can get away with it, because they are carrying the movie on their shoulders."

Honestly, this interview made me love him even more for being honest and also self-aware. You can read the entire interview over at the BBC.
