So yes, of course, our taste in music is subjective! But there are so many bands and artists that we all generally tend to agree with are great. However, there are the occasional times when it seems like everyone loves a band or singer and you can't seem to figure out what all the hype is about.
And recently, Reddit user u/Blippity_09 was curious about the latter when they asked: "Who, in your opinion, is the most overrated band/artist?"
Well, the thread went viral with thousands of people sharing the artist or band they think is overrated — and, I have to admit, their answers were surprising. Below are the top comments and most mentioned artists:
1. "Adam Levine/Maroon 5. How long did 'Girls Like You' top the charts? Too long."

2. "I don't get Taylor Swift. I like maybe one song per album, but people out here mortgaging their parents' homes for a concert ticket."

3. "Drake's singing voice is terrible. He sounds like an unbalanced washing machine."

4. "In terms of current popularity: Jack Harlow. I am a pretty big rap fan, but man that guy makes some of the most mid-music I've ever heard. None of it is necessarily bad, but none of it is good either. He just sounds like a white version of when Drake phones it in."

5. "Ed Sheeran. His music is fine if you're into generic pop, I guess? But not sure why he's praised as highly as he is."

6. "I'm gonna get sooo much hate for saying this, but Queen."

7. "Coldplay, I've stood by this for over a decade, sure they have talented musicians but the music they write is the most bland/depressing music I've ever heard in my life. How they got a big fanbase and have performed at shows as big as they have still stumps me."

8. "Justin Bieber. His voice sounds like bland tofu and he ruins every collaboration he does by adding absolutely nothing to the table."

9. "Machine Gun Kelly 🙄."

10. "Beyoncé. Don’t get me wrong, she’s not bad, she’s incredibly talented actually, but her fans treat her like the second coming of Jesus."

11. "Imma be murdered for this one, but Harry Styles."

12. "Mumford & Sons should have been the best band you’ve ever seen at a farmers market. On the way home you’d go, 'I really should’ve bought a CD but the queue was too long…' Then you’d never think about them again."

13. "I have to admit, I am a white man in my fifties, and I don't think KISS is that great. I've tried numerous times to truly like them to no avail. The riffs are beginner-ish, lyrics are cheesy, the mix is horrible, I guess I missed the boat on them. I dunno?"

14. "Foo Fighters are just respectable Nickelback."

15. "Ariana Grande. I’m sorry, I just can’t make myself like her. Do what you will."

16. "Not the MOST overrated, but Radiohead never really felt like they had the substance other people pretended they had."

17. "Madonna is not a great singer. Obviously a cultural icon, but not that talented musically."

18. And lastly: "I’m sorry to say this, but the Beatles."
