Whether enjoying road trips down some stretch of U.S. highway or backpacking vagabond style, there always comes that moment when we find ourselves surveying some sun soaked, panoramic piece of scenery that you thought could only exist in one of Bob Ross’ most erotic and secret dreams.

In these moments we all say the exact same thing to ourselves: “Boy, oh boy! What I would give for a sheep’s-eye view of this place!”

Well, those long and sleepless nights of wishing are at an end!!

Thanks to some clever individuals in the Faroe Islands, you can now observe breathtaking landscapes the way they were intended to be seen, from the perspective of the noble sheep!

Sheep View 360 is the brainchild of the Faroe Islands Tourism Board, who found themselves with a unique problem...

While almost all of the rest of Europe already had their native beauty captured and available on Google Street View, The Faroese were skipped over.

One can hardly blame Google for this, after all the service has already provided us with some of modern history's most inspiring images…

So what/where are the Faroe Islands?

The Faroe Islands are a small chain of 18 islands in the North Atlantic, part of the Kingdom of Denmark. It’s name is derived from the old norse word for sheep, Fær.

The sheep population dwarfs the human population 70,000 to 48,000!

Needless to say they can cover a lot of ground, so having survey-sheep seemed like the natural choice.

So the islands decided to utilize one of their most plentiful natural resources to solve the problem, a solution that some might call crazy….crazy like a sheep!
