1. The Zombie

The Zombie clocks in at the same time every day, eats the same lunch at the same hour, and clocks out right on schedule after his eight hours are up—all without ever changing his facial expression from bored apathy. But hey, at least he’s dependable.

2. The Übermensch

Rules? Regulations? Common courtesy? These are chains that bind lesser men; the Übermensch has evolved past all of that. Of course, he’s not above making sure that everyone else stays in line because who wants to work with a bunch of anarchists?

3. The Anarchist

Hmm. Guess we spoke too soon. The Anarchist has one purpose: to undermine authority in the office wherever it rears its ugly head. Maybe that means refusing to properly fill out TPS reports. Maybe it means taking casual Friday a bit too far. Whatever the case, if it’s anti-establishment and it’s petty, you can bet that The Anarchist will be on board.

4. The Go-getter

Don’t blink, because if you do you might miss The Go-getter as he passes you by on his way to the top. He has no time for chatting, lunch, sleep, family, or any of those other distractions that seem to keep everyone else from getting their work done. Just as long as he has an intravenous coffee-drip, nothing can stop him.

5. The Mini-manager

He doesn’t really have any authority, but he doesn’t let that get him down. The Mini-manager has taken it upon himself to make sure that everyone is doing what they’re supposed to be doing, and if you’re not, so help him, he might just tattle.

6. The Absentee

To most of his coworkers, The Absentee is just a solid wood desk and an empty chair. This person is away from the office so often that when he does show up to work, the receptionist asks if he has an appointment. It’s all good, though, because he has a doctor’s note, or he’s been working from home, or he had to go out on a sales call, or...

7. The Gossip

Want to know why Karen went home early? Or how the new intern managed to get his own office? Or what the boss can and cannot eat on his new diet? Just ask The Gossip. This employee has dirt on everybody, and he’ll let you in on it, just as long as you don’t tell anyone. Of course, The Gossip has already told everyone, so it’s really just a formality (and boy is he ever going to be talking about you once you’re out of earshot).

8. The Nomad

The Nomad is always on the move. You might see him chatting up the new guy, or heading to the bathroom, or hanging out at the watercooler. In fact, the one place you won’t see him is at his desk.

9. The Noisemaker

For The Noisemaker, a quiet office is a boring office. So, he’s going to do everyone a favor and liven things up a bit. Music, jokes, chatter, and anything else that worms it’s way into his coworkers’ heads and kicks their concentration in the face is just his way of helping out. Also, don’t ever expect to have a quiet conversation with this one; his inside voice is permanently set to “indoor rock-concert.”

10. Mr. Niceguy

Too busy watching Youtube to get your work done? Well, don’t worry, because Mr. Niceguy is always ready to pick up your slack. You know he doesn’t mind because when you ask him he says “No, really, I don’t mind. Let me just cancel my lunch hour.” Wow, it’s great to finally have a team-player around. Unless someday he cracks under the pressure. Watch out for the quiet ones.
